Just last week one of my friends was lamenting some norm being broken, saying, “If we ever become a Nazi country…” Like brother we shouldn’t have had to get to Red Reich and Blue for you to realize that.
I'm sure it wouldn't help telling them we hired the nazi scientists and have been taking in other right wing refugees for the proceeding decades...
We didn't just hire Nazi scientists, we hired Nazi generals! To say nothing of hiring Nazi everything when we controlled West Germany.
Operation Paperclip is a really fun and not at all frustrating discussion about how the ends justify the means. The ends here being beating the Soviets, who were also fascists somehow, to the moon.
Pretty much that's how it always goes, which is why I've lost the urge to engage lately...

This is the big problem. A lot of the liberals I know acknowledge that things aren't normal and someone needs to do something, but they don't know what to do because the only thing they know is that the answer is NOT communism, because they're the same as Nazis.
Convincing people the US sucks isn't too hard for me nowadays. Convincing them the answer is socialism is more difficult.
They need to be convinced Capitalism sucks. It's really hard and I wish I knew an answer. At least I have hope people are moving left and past the "vote blue no matter who nonsense"... maybe
If you even start to try to explain how this year is the inevitable outcome and endgoal of capitalism and isn't an anomaly, they either go fully defensive or shut down completely.
A lot if libs are comfortable with where they are financially and aren't going to be reachable. The people who never vote are the people who I believe are more likely to organize.
We should spend less time tabling outside farmer's markets and more time tabling at unemployment offices, social services offices, and courthouses.
That's a good point. The argument for Socialism needs to start with capitalism sucks and caused all the problems yiu have, and that is probably a lot easier for the people capitalism is failing to understand.
