Stupidest. Timeline.

[-] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 22 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Oh look at that, another reason why I don't want to be forced to use the same Public Ledger of Credentials as everyone else. I want to use a PLC where these motherfuckers don't get to have an account.

Get more decentralized, Bluesky and AT protocol, or get fucked.

It's not even worth talking about how all the Republican party stands for anymore is triggering others while acting like they're not actively trying to trigger others. It's the adult equivalent of someone waving their hands in your face and invading your personal space while going "I'm not touching you!"

What needs to be discussed is how to kick them to fucking curb and force them to stay on the fucking curb instead of letting them bring their childish fucking behavior to every service under the sun just so they can harass other people.

If you’re interested, this reddit thread has an interesting take on the reasoning behind their trolling strategy.

The anti‐Semite has chosen hate because hate is a faith; at the outset he has chosen to devaluate words and reasons. How entirely at ease he feels as a result. How futile and frivolous discussions about the rights of the Jew appear to him. He has placed himself on other ground from the beginning. If out of courtesy he consents for a moment to defend his point of view, he lends himself but does not give himself. He tries simply to project his intuitive certainty onto the plane of discourse. I mentioned awhile back some remarks by anti‐Semites, all of them absurd: "I hate Jews because they make servants insubordinate, because a Jewish furrier robbed me, etc." Never believe that anti‐Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti‐Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past. It is not that they are afraid of being convinced. They fear only to appear ridiculous or to prejudice by their embarrassment their hope of winning over some third person to their side.

If then, as we have been able to observe, the anti‐Semite is impervious to reason and to experience, it is not because his conviction is strong. Rather his conviction is strong because he has chosen first of all to be impervious.

He has chosen also to be terrifying. People are afraid of irritating him. No one knows to what lengths the aberrations of his passion will carry him — but be knows, for this passion is not provoked by something external. He has it well in hand; it is obedient to his will: now he lets go of the reins and now he pulls back on them. He is not afraid of himself, but he sees in the eyes of others a disquieting image‐his own‐and he makes his words and gestures conform to it. Having this external model, he is under no necessity to look for his personality within himself. He has chosen to find his being entirely outside himself, never to look within, to be nothing save the fear he inspires in others.

-Jean-Paul Sartre, Anti-Semite and Jew

I have seen condensed versions of this quote, but the pieces surrounding the oft repeated quote are worth including.

In other words, in respect to how the current Republican and conservative groups communicate:

Always has been. 🌎🧑‍🚀🔫🧑‍🚀

It’s the adult equivalent of someone waving their hands in your face and invading your personal space while going “I’m not touching you!”

the whitehouse press secretary said "your mom" in response to a question this week. can't make this shit up.

I've become a fan of the term 'gish governance' - the process by which they create so many outrages the entire system is unable to contend with anything before it's overwhelmed by something even more outrageous.

all the Republican party stands for anymore is triggering others

That's just an extension of how American politicians in general always focus on wedge issues, rather than improving material conditions for the working class.

[-] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 month ago

I mean, what were we expecting?

[-] yessikg@fedia.io 7 points 1 month ago

Can we say Bluesky is a Nazi bar yet?

[-] FerretyFever0@fedia.io -4 points 1 month ago

Bluesky sucks ass. The only interesting people on there are trans furries, and they ban you for less than Twitter. I either got permabanned for making fun of Kirk, or for using the term "fucking Mormons" like 12 times in a day. Hate speech and abusive language, apparently. Legit hellsite.

[-] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 month ago

I mean, that would get you banned anywhere.

[-] EightBitBlood@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

You do realize you were adding to that hell right? Just because you hate Mormons doesn't mean you should be saying that publically 12 times in a day. Twitter is hell because racists are there doing the same, likely about Mormons just as much as Jews.

Just because you aren't racist doesn't mean the hate you are spreading needs to be spread. Hate Mormons on your own time, or hate the religion, not those practicing it.

But fuck Charlie Kirk. He's one guy and his death unquestionable makes the world a better place. But he was a shit head by his own actions, and most Mormons I've met are just as gullible as anyone else getting taken advantage of by an organized religion.

Just saying, it's hard to find places online, and even harder when you go in hot. Don't go in hot. Maybe Bluesky would treat you better. Their starter packs actually are great ways to find niche communities. The surface level Bluesky is where most of those flurries are. Below that there's actually quite a bit of righteously enjoyable counter culture. Just don't go in hatin.

[-] FerretyFever0@fedia.io -1 points 1 month ago

I didn't say that I hated Mormons, I mostly used the phrase as a joke, or as a response to them being extremely hateful. And most of the time I was just vibing with the trans furries and trying to ignore Carol from Minnesota posting ai Newsom slop. It's an alright site, just not all that entertaining for me. I went in looking for a good time, and unfortunately didn't find as much as I wanted to. I do remember that they were banning people for talking about Kirk, so that was probably the reason. Couldn't ban transphobes saying slurs though.

[-] KingThrillgore@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 month ago

I literally said on Bluesky to "dig out your Mastodon accounts" and people took an offense to that. WHAT

[-] LogicalDrivel@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 month ago

Blocked by 65k people so far according to clearsky.app

[-] gabereal@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 month ago

The White House is trying to troll people on BlueSky? The platform famous for having a 'block and move on' ethos?!

I guess new BlueSky users will take the bait, but old users will just shake their heads, hit the 'block' button and get on with their lives

[-] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago

Yep. White House is on Bluesky? No it isn't. Not that I can see, anyway. I follow a couple of block lists and I'm going to guess it was blocked for me while I was sleeping. Working as intended.

[-] Leather@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Decades old internet wisdom reads - Don't feed the trolls.

Block em everywhere, they are desperate for attention and looking to pick a fight so they can call you deranged, extremest and violent.

[-] lepinkainen@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago

”But I can change their minds!”

…every well meaning left-leaning idiot on the internet.

No you can’t; they’re not arguing from a place of good will, they all argue for the sake of arguing.

And in the worst case you’re arguing with a LITERAL PIECE OF CODE.

Block and move on.

[-] Aljernon@lemmy.today 2 points 1 month ago

Sometimes you argue for the lurkers, not the people in front of you. The key is avoid posting walls of text and to throw grenades, not catch them.

[-] Kissaki@feddit.org 2 points 1 month ago

Not every public opposition is about changing the message targets opinion. Calling those who are willing to invest in making opposition visible idiots…

If you ignore toxicity in communities it festers and poisons the communities.

I saw this before I saw anything from the accounts.

Block list for new propaganda accounts: https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:3acafo7uekudfz27te5nd3h7/lists/3m3ggmb4wm62s

Block list for most US Gov accounts: https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:qruaxn2eewkli7hsvzxo5hwf/lists/3m3gbju7lio2e

[-] LoafedBurrito@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Sweet. They will also ride to the most blocked accounts on bluesky just like couch fucker jd vance.

[-] StrawberryPigtails@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 1 month ago

Of course they did.

[-] Kissaki@feddit.org 1 points 1 month ago

Is it a troll attempt though? Moreso than any activity they do? They've always been boasting about their supposed achievements. Posting a highlight reel when joining a platform alone doesn't seem indicative. What else are they gonna do. Join with no introductory post? Join and be self-critical?
