This is 2 months old. He's shut the fuck up since then and I hope he stays that way.

Completely unnecesary to say this shit too, he wins nobody with it and only harms leftists.

You've convinced me, I'm voting Sliwa.

Every. Goddamn. Time.

This is why we don't back socdems or do electoralism, comrades.

(I swear, I am getting way too much mileage out of this meme.)

[-] Cat_Daddy@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

I got shouted at before the election for saying this. Bernie bros are now just Mamdani bros.

[-] MayoPete@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago

The Sisyphian task of electoralism: stairs fell-for-it-again

[-] cassandrafatigue@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 month ago

Damn, his foreign policy takes are... Still somehow the best ive heard from any elected american figure 'and it's at least partially our fault'.

[-] SwitchyandWitchy@hexbear.net 1 points 1 month ago

This is from September, obvious bait is obvious. Hopefully he continues to advocate for peace and dropping sanctions, and hopefully the PSL can get some wins sooner rather than later.

[-] ProletarianDictator@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago

Bait for what exactly?

Mamdani is the bait for people like us. Bait the liberal wing of Hexbear seem to have taken quite readily.

[-] SickSemper@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

Bait? So this poster doesn’t actually care about Cuba and Venezuela and is just trying to do what exactly, farm upbears? When I was crowing from the rooftops when he first did the Ramos interview, I was ignored, but good to know that statements expire after two months

[-] SpookyBogMonster@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 month ago

So this poster doesn’t actually care about Cuba and Venezuela and is just trying to do what exactly, farm upbears?

What is spamming this on a tiny web Forum where most of us seem to agree, doing to help support Cuba and Venezuela? Nothing.

OP is absolutely farming upbears. I've seen this post maybe 4 ot 5 times, in about 15 minutes of scrolling. It's getting ridiculous

Ziohran Langleyni

I am still unconvinced as to why a mayor needs to have the correct opinions on issues that he has no power over

[-] robot_dog_with_gun@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

it's an egregious use of his pulpit to manufacture consent for whatever Trump will do to Venezuela

[-] PowerLurker@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

b/c his propaganda platform is arguably equally important to the policies he pursues. statements like this normalize and spread a conception of socialism that plays ball with imperialism and furthers western chauvinist brainworms.

[-] SickSemper@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

We’d rather have an international socialist than a national socialist? He can’t do anything about Israel but we still want him to be antizionist, right?. The incorrect opinion here is literally helping manufacture consent for American extrajudicial murder, and reducing it to an opinion you can be right or wrong about is minimizing that murder.

Also didn’t Bernie make Burlington Vermont into a sister city with somewhere in the Soviet Union? We can have higher expectations for elected officials than the narrow remit of their office

Turns out the city was Yaroslavl and the relationship was severed in 2022 :(

[-] Bartsbigbugbag@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago

The city I grew up in has a sister city partnership with a city in Tajikistan, and they sent us an absolutely gorgeous handmade entire building. I was so proud when I found out. Even if the USSR was around today, the city wouldn’t set up that relationship now, they’re fully captured by the neoliberals, who focus on investing property values, restricting multi home development, and bending over to get companies like Google to come in and open satellite offices.

[-] queermunist@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Why is he helping Trump make the rhetorical case for military intervention?

[-] casskaydee@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Why does he need to state any opinions on these things whatsoever?

[-] john_brown@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Beyond whether or not he has the correct opinions, he demonstrates terrible judgement by continuing to humor such stupid questions. Any time he's asked about Israel, Cuba, Venezuela, whatever, his response should be that he's running for/is the mayor of NYC. He's not the president, he's not secdef, he's not an ambassador, and these questions are insulting to the people of NYC. Falling into these obvious rhetorical traps that serve absolutely no purpose is just foolish. There's nothing he can say that will satisfy zionists and western chauvinists so he shouldn't say anything and he should be aggressive in attacking anyone asking him those questions.

[-] LadyCajAsca@hexbear.net 1 points 1 month ago

"Look I just wanna make it clear, I follow the democratic party line in condemning AES, but maybe we shouldn't blockade and bomb them, pretty please?" gets ignored

I mean, any majorly elected politician is going to be bad in foreign policy lest the Trump and broader reactionary forces call them 'traitors' and kick them out of their seats or fabricate even more lies than they are now.

And yeah, the American public also just sucks at foreign policy in general, most of 'em, anyway.
