It is from a real huffpost "article" that I found, but yeah, it's basically rage bait.

[-] mfed1122@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 6 days ago

Yeah no hate on you OP :)

I figured it was either by someone outside the US or someone who just thought it was good conversation anyways.

WTF is a Grape Pie?

Sincerely, someone who's lived in Arizona for 24 years.

[-] robocall@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Could you please ask your neighbors which one of them is furiously Google searching "grape pie"?

[-] psycotica0@lemmy.ca 12 points 6 days ago

I know a lot of people are complaining about the accuracy of... basically everything about this map.

But what really bothers me is that I feel with every fiber of my being like Pumpkin Pie and Key Lime Pie shouldn't be in the same category as each other. They're just not the same kind of experience. Regardless of who eats them when.

[-] ohshittheyknow@lemmynsfw.com 10 points 6 days ago

This map is blatantly false

[-] _stranger_@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

no kidding, they made "pecan" and "pecan" the same color!

[-] jambudz@lemmy.zip 4 points 6 days ago

Lived in and around DC basically my whole life. I have never once seen a “banoffee pie” nor would I be able to identify it or describe it.

[-] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 6 points 6 days ago

Pumpkin pie or bust

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago

I'm from ohio and have never heard of butterscotch pie. That said, arizona is onto something

Chocolate pie is a custard pie. fite me.

[-] W3dd1e@lemmy.zip 2 points 5 days ago

From KS and live in MO. I have never eaten Frito Chili Pie and I’ve only had Apple on thanksgiving once.

[-] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 6 days ago

I'm thinking too much about what a pie is and now all pie just seems fucking weird

[-] switcheroo@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

Aww yeaaah Oregon sitting over here on the ONLY pie I can actually make. Mmm mm.

(Didn't know it was that popular of a dish. Damn good, even if seriously ugly.)

I have now learned that most Americans have incorrect preferences

[-] MehBlah@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

This map is wrong about my state. I've never seen the pie they have for it. Not once. Its pecan pie or banana pudding if its anything for my state

[-] Psythik@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago

Seriously WTF is "grape pie"?

[-] resting_parrot@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago

Like cherry pie but with grapes. I've had it and it's pretty good.

banana pudding for thanksgiving?

[-] MehBlah@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

Yes and more. The way it worked when I was a kid that you had your choice of deserts. The whole family would come up with what they were bringing. Never once though have I ever saw a Peanut butter pie.

[-] LadyButterfly@reddthat.com 3 points 6 days ago

As an English person, man peanut butter pie sounds good!
