You know what both of these viewpoints have in common? They are both in agreement about how we Socialists are the naive babies and don’t understand politics or the market.
This article needs a translator.
"Liberal Democracy" needs replacing with "dictatorship of the bourgeoisie"
"Chinese-style democracy" needs replacing with "dictatorship of the proletariat"
"Democratic values" needs replacing with "bourgeois values"
"post-materialist values" means "individualist"
"Democratic freedoms" means "freedom of capital"
I honestly think a browser extension marxism-lens that auto swaps liberal media phrases for what they actually are would be useful.
I can't tell if the english translators/writers at SCMP have no idea what these phrases properly mean or if they're very aware and being savvy about what most of their readers would understand.
SCMP is a liberal outlet based in HK that became nominally pro-China after Alibaba bought it. My guess is they know exactly what they're saying.
Fun trivia fact, Murdoch used to own it.
