Here's a shower thought I had over how stupid this situation is: Had she actually tried to run him over, there is a chance she would still be alive today.

Here's another shower thought: Some say that if the ICE agent feared for his life his actions are justified. But nobody seem to care that the soccer mom who was just coming back from dropping her kid to school was also fearing for her life when some ICE officer aggressively tried to open her car door. And also why should we tolerate ICE agents carelessly creating avoidable situations where innocent bystanders fear for their life to begin with? Sometimes those situations are downright created purposefully to give themselves a pretext power trip over people, even up to shooting someone and it looks like it could be the case there.

Yes, it's all bad faith arguments to try to have an appearance of legitimacy. The simple truth is they think they have every right to murder anyone who doesn't support them.

No, they're not. They can get away with it, yes, but they absolutely have no right.

For all practical matters, the rule of law in the US has been suspended in favor of the rule of force.

After seeing HIS video, I think he did it because her wife pissed him off.

Not blaming the wife at all so don’t misunderstand.

[-] dan1101@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Also, Republicans have advocated that drivers should be able to run over protestors blocking roads. Even if she did hit him, I think running over a masked armed man in the road should be even more justifiable than running over protestors.

[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 months ago

You're absolutely spot on at all points and apparently take quite long showers 😁

[-] skozzii@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

I don't understand why his gun was drawn with safety off in the first place... he was looking to kill someone.

[-] jontree255@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Anyone who watched the video knows that.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Exactly. Fuck you NBC News.

For cowardly framing the obvious objective reality as a contestable claim.

[-] lolrightythen@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

*consumable claim?

[-] superkong47@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 months ago

And he’s absolutely correct, that ice agent is a murderous cunt and he’ll get his

[-] crystalmerchant@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

...that's because he wasn't run over

[-] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Wouldn't there be injuries if he was run over? Also, how can you be on your phone and doing this job, which could see a gun in your other hand?! That should count against him.

[-] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 months ago

The objective fact says that. Stop acting like these appeals to authority are valid arguments. All that does is allow propagandists to argue the other side and claim to be an authority.

[-] phoenixarise@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Not even close. He needs to be prosecuted to the fullest.

New video that appears to have been captured by the shooter himself (who can be seen holding a phone in other videos when he shoots her):

https://www.instagram.com/reels/DTTLLYekf-W/

This is unambiguous murder.

[-] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago

Omg, her last words were "I'm not mad at you"

He literally walked in front of her car, basic training would have told him that is the worst thing you can do when attempting to deal with a driver. Someone needs to take these fucks out.

[-] snekerpimp@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

You think any of these brown shirt chucklefucks have ANY training? Other than “this is the killy end of the gun.”

[-] frongt@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 months ago

I don't think they even get that

[-] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

I'd be shocked if they could claim fifth-grade English on their résumé.

[-] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 months ago

That is sadly only slightly under the median level of adult reading literacy

[-] bus_factor@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

That guy had worked for ICE for 10 years, should be enough to work some stuff out on his own.

[-] Fondots@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

De got dragged by a car he tried to break into to arrest someone less than a year ago, if that didn't teach them I don't think anything will.

[-] lividweasel@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Learning from history? Not exactly on-brand with these guys.

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 1 points 2 months ago

I think he learned, just not what decency would have informed him.

[-] MacEnvy@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago
[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Pretty sure that’s not in the training either. They just hope they’ll figure that out and so far so good.

[-] boogiebored@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

In the BBC video you can see how he shows her a phone, then suddenly it’s a gun.

Also after killing her does he say “fucking bitch”?

[-] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 1 points 2 months ago

Yes he does.

[-] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

I think he may have been calling the wife that. She was interacting with him outside the car and I think it pissed him off so he killed the driver to get at the wife.

[-] BrundleFly2077@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 months ago

Can’t watch without an instagram account. Any alternatives anyone knows?

[-] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago

If you're on a phone, there's a "X" hidden way up in the top right. I don't have an account and I was able to watch it. They just make it seem like you have to sign up or get the app first.

[-] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago

You can, gotta hit hidden X, top right

Anyone know why she was parked sideways in the middle of the road?

[-] Zoot@reddthat.com 1 points 2 months ago

She was previously parallel to the curb until asked to move, she moves sideways into the street and then ice begins to yell at her, and the video begins.

[-] Proprietary_Blend@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Good job watching the videos
