Commoners have 4hp. So, for reference, 4 successful baby scratches drops an average, normal person to zero HP and they are rendered unconscious and have about a 40% chance of death if they don't receive medical aid.

But STR/DEX would be 1 bc 0 is not possible. Would have a -5 to hit - so 30% on an AC10 unarmored commoner.

I think this means you have a 0.3% chance of permadeath in an encounter with a baby if they only make 4 attacks and you don't hit back and they don't keep scratching your unconscious body.

If they attack you 10 times (1 minute of scratching w/ 6 sec turns), there is a 20% chance they land 4 scratches on you and you have a 40% chance to permadie once downed - so 8% chance of permadeath in one 10 turn encounter with a baby with the same stipulations as above.

Commoner here: this is accurate.

[-] Dadifer@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago

Yeah, sounds about right

[-] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 32 points 3 days ago

Am a parent, can confirm, I am dead.

Just on the inside tho

[-] Archpawn@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Or if the DM rolls for HP, they have a 1/8 chance of dying from one hit. Maybe they get death saves, but those are optional if it's not a PC.

[-] psud@aussie.zone 2 points 2 days ago

Aren't they also -5 to hit due to lack of str?

[-] Fmstrat@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Charisma should not drop negative and then rebound to 1 at 24 months. Please revise.

Default rules state that stats can not go below zero, extra negatives will only go into effect if buffs are applied such as +2 baby clothes

[-] Redacted@lemmy.zip 27 points 3 days ago

Technically this is a dead baby RAW

[-] Gyroplast@pawb.social 31 points 3 days ago

Would you prefer it COOKED, you psycho?!

[-] Redacted@lemmy.zip 12 points 3 days ago

Well if the campaigns gonna kill a baby it might head towards cannibalism too

iirc in D&D if any of your stats reach 0 you die. Might be only body stats (str/dex/con), not sure.

[-] Crozekiel@lemmy.zip 11 points 3 days ago

I think I remember Wis doesn't kill you at 0, but you go fully insane and lose control of your character. But that might just be older versions and not 5th ed rules. I feel like I recall something about going into a coma if Int hits zero, maybe that is new rules for mental stats...?

[-] Redacted@lemmy.zip 12 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Youre correct, at least in 3e only 0 con kills you outright. All the others just make you comatose or some other state in which you lose control of your character.

But in 5e all 0 attribute states mean you die.

[-] scratchee@feddit.uk 3 points 2 days ago

So 0 charisma means you die of ugliness? You’re so disgusted by yourself you just stop breathing? Or the gods find you so unappealing they reach down and snuff you out?

[-] Redacted@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

Iirc you lose all sense of yourself and experience total ego death, then real death follows. Charisma is more than just how hot you are.

[-] Iron_Lynx@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago

Charisma is more than just how hot you are.

This. While "seduction" is not technically a skill, that could fit under Persuasion or Deception, depending on how you go about it, and this still leaves Performance and Intimidation, soooooo....

[-] scratchee@feddit.uk 3 points 1 day ago

That makes sense, we’ve all had days like that

[-] Crozekiel@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 days ago

Str or Dex at 0 = death in RAW. Granted this uses Agility instead of Dex, so I have no idea what established system (if any) they are using, but my guess is this is what above commenter is referencing.

[-] Echo5@lemmy.world 20 points 3 days ago

I wish my baby would cast sleep on itself.

[-] Crozekiel@lemmy.zip 38 points 3 days ago

Just because they can, doesn't mean they will. They are saving it, Baby doesn't get many spell slots so they gotta make them count.

[-] topherclay@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

So essentially they won't go to sleep because they don't know when their next long rest will be.

[-] qarbone@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

"My baby in Christ, you will be inducing the long rest."

[-] joyjoy@lemmy.zip 7 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Wisdom is 1. They can't know that.

[-] bluegreenpurplepink@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Hilarious. Just needs the Shout spell.

[-] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 3 days ago

Guess it's random, one of mine came with the inferno spell, the other had deafening shriek.

[-] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 3 days ago

Or alarm. Sometimes Tasha's uncontrollable laughter.

[-] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 18 points 3 days ago

Charisma reaches -4 just before they turn two

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

seems about right

[-] IntriguedIceberg@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

So... are baby nails a thing to be wary of? Funny

[-] scratchee@feddit.uk 5 points 2 days ago

Yup, my daughter cut her nose quite a few times just rubbing her face, and slice us regularly. They grow from well trimmed to dangerous weapons in less than a week so there’s no avoiding it really

[-] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 6 points 2 days ago

Baby nails are sharp, thin and attached to a thing that flails around aimlessly. The greatest danger is to eyes.

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

they are often on flesh that has no callus

[-] Agent641@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

Random debuff: 0.1% chance per turn to take 100 damage while sleeping.

[-] psud@aussie.zone 2 points 2 days ago

1/3000 in Australia so 0.03%

[-] Deconceptualist@leminal.space 11 points 3 days ago

Cloudkill 😆

[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

Charisma goes down by 1 from 20 once a month for 24 months, it already hits 1

[-] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 19 points 3 days ago

Yes, but it might gain other buffs to Charisma between now and 24 months. Charisma is forced to 1 at 24 months regardless.

[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

Clearly I don't play D&D

[-] psud@aussie.zone 1 points 2 days ago

My memory is they're max Cha until age 2, some even beyond that. I don't think Cha drops gradually, I think it's all at once from 20 to 1

[-] tamal3@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Wasn't Carl only an intelligence of three when he first entered the dungeon?

Different system
