It's just the union flag, when on ships or land. Union jack is when it appears in the corner of another flag, like on old Canadian flags and current provincial ones, aus, NZ, a bunch in the carribean, etc.

Well, they're not skiing down Mt Etna on Sicily. It's in Cortina d'Ampezzo, in the very North of Italy in the dolomite Alpes at 1200m above sea level.
A few years ago they had the WO in Russia, a famously cold country, but in the city of Sochi, which is on the black sea cost and warmer than Cortina d'Ampezzo.
