Pol does love their Hitler

[-] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 44 points 3 days ago

It was founded by Epstein after all

[-] sauerkrautsaul@lemmus.org 4 points 3 days ago

what the fuck are you talking about

[-] markovs_gun@lemmy.world 51 points 3 days ago

In the latest Epstein files, it was revealed that Epstein met up with Christopher Poole (Online name- Moot), creator of 4chan, on like the day before /pol/ was created.

[-] M137@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

That doesn't at all mean Epstein founded it...

4chan thing could be a coincidence. however, a reddit account famous for reaching the first 1000000 karma points is u/maxwellhill or Ghislaine Maxwell, who also happened to be one of the moderators of r/worldnews.

Its awe-inspiring that our technological society finally has given humanity the ability to make lasers capable of splitting hairs this thin

[-] tfw_no_toiletpaper@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Are you defending Epstein or /pol, I can't tell

Jesus Christ he types like a toddler

[-] Frostbeard@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

That is afaik typical.

Short, barley coherent sentences. Telegram style.

It's signaling the importance.

Where you have been, where you are, where you are going.

"Duabi yesterday, met asshat, Doha tdy with dipshit. Jordan tomorrow. SF next w mouthbreather"

[-] Soulg@ani.social 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I mean that Boris guy was typing like that too but it still read like an adult was the one typing

[-] Draegur@lemmy.zip 51 points 3 days ago

they were taught to by the pedophile billionaires who had a hand in shaping the 'culture' of Pol.

Epstein and Bannon were busy there. And probably paying other foreign trolls to help them.

If we have learned anything in the last 15 years, it's that speaking positively about Hitler is okay as long as its just a joke

I looked it up. Apparently the quote comes from Peace Pilgrim.

Also, when I smile, people frown and yell back

One time I was cashiering at a grocery store on Thanksgiving, only one to show up. There was a huge line of people buying a lot of stuff each, so even though I was the fastest cashier, it was a losing battle. Still, I kept my smile on and engaged each customer while working my hardest.

Then some asshole ten customers away started yelling things like “This is ridiculous, why aren’t there more cashiers? Hey! I’m talking to you! Answer me!” Like I had any pull on the people who didn’t show. He should have been yelling at my manager who was hiding in the back.

Decide to ignore him since no good would come of it. Then I hear “Stop smiling!”, which was so abrasive it literally stunned me. I looked at the line to see who was going to tell him to calm the hell down, and every person there was nodding along like “Yeah, I can’t believe this cashier has the gall to smile when we want to make him feel small.”

And just like that, suddenly I was in no hurry. Slowed down to about 1/4 speed and just glared at each person with no conversation whatsoever. Rude guy gets up there and starts in on some nonsense and I tell him “I’m a highschooler. I don’t have to pay rent. One more word out of you and I walk out on this job right now. No one else is here to check you out, but security is still here to keep you from leaving with anything today.” Still clearly upset, but he shut up.

In Europe cashiers don't pack your groceries, they just scan the stuff and handle the payment, and you pack the groceries yourself, and you better be quick because they are gonna start scanning the next customer's stuff immediately. I think this would solve many such cases.

[-] village604@adultswim.fan 9 points 3 days ago

I do like how Aldi handles checkouts.

[-] tetris11@feddit.uk 1 points 6 hours ago

"CATCH MOTHAFUCKA"
"B-but I'm not on the other side yet"
"I SAID-"

[-] village604@adultswim.fan 1 points 1 hour ago

I guess our Aldi is different? At ours the cashier's keep a spare cart, fill that with the stuff they scan, then take your cart after you pay and you move to a section where you can bag.

Admittedly it's the only one I've been in, and it's a fairly small one

[-] sbv@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 days ago

Same thing in Canada. It sucks.

[-] emeralddawn45@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago

I would much rather pack my shit and get out than have to wait for the elderly/drunk/high school cashier to do everyone's groceries and then do mine too. What a fucking waste that is. Plus I always had my own bags even before they stopped giving away the plastic ones, and I don't want to have to explain to a cashier that yes everything will fit in that bag you just have to do it right.

[-] sbv@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

I found the grocery packers would pack as fast as the items were scanned. I don't like packing, and I'm usually slower than the cashier, so I don't go to cashiers anymore.

Since I have to pack my own shit, I go to the self checkouts where I can pick at whatever rate I feel like.

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

What did these people expect? It's not like a day or two before a snowstorm where everyone unexpectedly needs groceries, it's a holiday famous for mostly being a feast

[-] plyth@feddit.org 39 points 3 days ago

Take your hand out of your trousers.

[-] baguettefish@discuss.tchncs.de 13 points 3 days ago

in some cultures being friendly and nice makes you suspicious and unreasonable

[-] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 7 points 3 days ago

In some cultures they'll think you either did something bad, or that you're gay

[-] lessthanluigi@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 3 days ago

This makes the most sense.

[-] sauerkrautsaul@lemmus.org 6 points 3 days ago

are you grotesque

do you look like the guy in robocop after he was exposed to the toxic waste?

or do you look like art the clown from terrifier?

[-] lessthanluigi@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Nah. But people do say that I look like an undercover cop

Real.

If you want to shine like the sun, first you have to burn like it.

[-] derry@midwest.social 3 points 3 days ago

It's attributed to Hitler. But after just having looked into it, it seems dubious.

[-] mEEGal@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 48 minutes ago)

That've fooled anyone, it's an easy mistake to make

His actual quote is "WENN DU WIE DIE SONNE SCHEINEN WILLST, MUSST DU ZUERST WIE SIE BRENNEN"

and I think it's beautiful

I can't find a source for it, though. It's definitely not from Mein Kampf, as I went through all occurrences of Sonne and it's not there. There is one quote in there that says: "only once the sun went down can the moon shine", but that's quite different. I think it's just another misattributed quote.

Was joking, thought you made it up. Said Sherman as a joke in regards to the scorched earth policy he used in the march to the sea of the American civil war

[-] zod000@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 days ago

A little too poetic for Sherman anyway. "War is hell" was definitely one of his quotes though.
