Here's a fact that might surprise most people. Although the US is adding 70GW of new capacity versus China's 400GW in 2026, proportionately more of the US's will be from renewables. Largely because China is still adding coal and gas. By the end of 2026, 36% of total US generating capacity will be from renewables.

China's unemployment rate is 5.2%, and that rises 16.5% for its youth unemployment rate. If they are a centrally planned economy, why are they wasting money on coal & gas imports, when they could be building more factories to switch to 99% renewables for new capacity like America is doing?

The US's 99% adoption rate illustrates renewables' unassailable advantage. They are cheaper than everything else going, and not only that, they have years of price falls to come. Just imagine, renewables are at 99% adoption rate, even with a Republican administration that is deeply hostile to them. That's how unstoppable renewables are. Nuclear is dead in the water. Any fool investing money in its future only has themselves to blame when they lose it all, or have to coming begging for bailouts.

Solar, wind, and battery storage are forecasted to provide 99% of new electricity generating capacity in 2026 according to new data released by the Energy Information Administration.

These stats about alternative energy for the US are NOT what I expected, very heartening to see.

Solar/battery is the cheapest way to make electricity. Some people know. Some don't.

or some have a lobby to service so they deny reality.

it's depressing but true.

The financial argument for renewables has more or less won among the people looking to build power generation

Its a little strange to talk shit about China manufactoring and renewable deployment while praising the US for doing way less.

China is literally deploying 5x the US renewables. It alone is deploying more than the rest of the world combined, year after year. More importantly, the entire reason renewables and batteries are cheap is because of Chinas manufactoring sector. They produce something like 80% of the worlds batteries. China is why solar/batteries are cheap enough to be the go to power source in the US.

No other country is even close in panels/battery/wind turbine production, much less exports. They are single handedly fueling a green revolution in Pakistan, a nation of 250 million people, by selling 10% of their solar exports to a country in the chokehold of fossil fuels. Pakistan went from 5GW solar installed in 2020 to over 35GW installed in 2025, with 15GW waiting for deployment. Thats a 10x increase. Some of its large cities are now able to run on just solar during the day, instead of using natgas from Qatar. Thats a huge change in just 5 years that affects a quarter billion people, and its from just a small portion of Chinas exports.

Fuck their totalitarian government and surveillance state, but its odd to go "rah rah USA" and "fuck china" when we are literally only making any headway in renewables because of their decades long efforts.
