Brace yourselves, the next couple of days are going to be very ghoulish as many liberals peel their human faces off and start advocating for this war like its the most natural thing in the world. I never get used to it.

[-] EveningCicada@hexbear.net 44 points 6 days ago

Can't wait for my government to implicitly applaud the attack, talking about how evil the Iranian state is, then in the same breath say that "everybody has to follow international law" while never calling their allies out for breaking it.

And then in 10 years, they were always against this.

[-] umbrella@lemmy.ml 21 points 6 days ago

you can see they were already salivating for the opportunity if you talked to them about iran these last few days.

[-] KuroXppi@hexbear.net 113 points 6 days ago

I'm thinking of my former classmate and friend who lives in Iran, she is most thoughtful, kind and intelligent. And Israel bombs. And bombs. And gloats. And the US bombs. And bombs. And gloats. And she may be in the rubble and I do not know.

Inhuman, despicable, cowardly. Humanity cannot progress until the USA and its vassals collapse.

[-] glimmer_twin@hexbear.net 100 points 6 days ago

America must burn. I despise this evil empire with every fibre of my being. Truly the enemy of every human being.

[-] Pikache@hexbear.net 36 points 6 days ago

I despise the USA and have to say it's the American people as a whole who have CONTINUALLY allowed this to happen.

[-] Hexamerous@hexbear.net 33 points 6 days ago

"We're vooting as hecking hard as humanly possible over here, what more do you want?!" maybe-later-honey

[-] ClimateStalin@hexbear.net 17 points 6 days ago

I think you’re confused about the power the American people have to prevent this

“I despise the Russian empire and have to say it’s the serfs as a whole who continually allow this to happen”

[-] plinky@hexbear.net 11 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

99% of voting amerikkkans do, they are evil people

[-] ClimateStalin@hexbear.net 19 points 6 days ago

Over 80% of Americans are opposed to this. Even the people who voted for Trump, a large portion did so in part because he framed himself as the anti-war guy. They’re stupid for believing him sure, but the alternative was directly arguing for war with Iran during her campaign.

Or are you just saying we should storm the White House and the Capitol and _______? Sounds like a great plan, the most surveilled people on earth fight the strongest military power in the world.

The United States can only be stopped by outside military force, as it was with Germany, as it was with Japan.

[-] Muinteoir_Saoirse@hexbear.net 18 points 6 days ago

Americans always try so hard to remove themselves from responsibility for their society's actions. You are culpable, and people outside the US are justified in fucking hating Americans.

The United States can only be stopped by outside military force, as it was with Germany, as it was with Japan.

pathetic weaselly way to throw your hands up and let it happen. This is why Americans suck. They "don't support" what their government does but don't believe they can do anything about it, and leave the rest of the world to suffer until some "outside force" comes to save the day. Internal turmoil is in fact a crucial step in dismantling the US empire, christ

[-] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 13 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Sure let me just rig up a suicide vest and go blow up my local town hall, that will surely be productive.

People want to do something but telling a single individual they are complicit - while possibly technically correct - isn't really helpful. We are severely lagging behind on organizing against this but lashing out at the few of us the care the most about this shit is unproductive imo. They are definitely wrong that only outside force can stop this and on that I will concede you are correct, there just is a much better way to make this argument.

[-] Muinteoir_Saoirse@hexbear.net 13 points 6 days ago

Sure let me just rig up a suicide vest and go blow up my local town hall, that will surely be productive.

Literally no one said this, what I argued against was the bullshit position that somehow we shouldn't hate Americans because they are "powerless." Fuck Americans. Americans should (and I'm sure many are) deal with their problems and work together and all that shit. But people outside America are fully justified in saying: Fuck Americans. Especially losers who spend their time defending how it's not their fault, that they don't support the evil. No one cares, stop centring yourselves, American feelings literally do not matter to people outside of America watching a girls' school get blown up.

[-] Muinteoir_Saoirse@hexbear.net 10 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Also "possibly technically correct" is weaselly bullshit too. Yes an American is complicit. Full stop. Not "possibly", not "technically." Fully. Acknowledging that complicity is the first step in doing something to change it, and prevaricating about it just shows a lack of commitment to actually be responsible for change.

Edit: An American who was actually opposed to this and in solidarity with the people that are dying for their shitty government's bloodlust would not be defensively arguing their lack of responsibility, they would understanding the rightful anger of others and not making it about ensuring they don't have to personally feel any guilt.

Are opposed as in they are setting on fire ammunition production? Or those 20% are all in military production by coincidence? Maybe they are refusing service to veterans? Or maybe they are blockading ports instead of arguing for americans on tankers stealing oil?

The alternative in voting were libertarians and greens and psl, if they are both the same - which they are, but even that effort is too much for burgerreichers. So no, i don’t believe they are opposed to anything, they have opinions which they don’t act on even if it were not costing them.

Amerikans have the only agency in the whole world to oppose this, and they dick around arguing about burger prices

I hope they geht a carrier destroyed. Fucking United Shitstains.

[-] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 33 points 6 days ago

At the moment, I'll settle for an F-35 confirmed shot down and we can raise the stakes from there.

[-] QinShiHuangsShlong@lemmy.ml 34 points 6 days ago

Shoot for the moon so if you miss you'll hit the stars. Fingers crossed for total the total annihilation of Tel-Aviv and US bases in the region.

This is a war of choice against a nation that has nit attacked the US. DEATH DEATH TO THE IDF AND AMERIKKkA.

I hate being an American. I HATE my taxes are involuntarily given to this shit. I hope every US commander involved dies.

American citizens are now at risk across the world. America anything is a legit military target. I hope Iran doesn't puss out. Fucking Russia has an oppertunity to do something really funny too. But they won't.

This comes on the crux of Pakistan and Afghanistan at OPEN WAR.

pathetic Russia’s Rosatom says nuclear sites in Iran should not be targeted ‘under any circumstances

AHHHHHHHH. fuuuuck! I just want one day of my life where this bloodthirsty fucking country isn’t involved in a goddamned forever war. Fucking pedophile ruling class deciding that your aunties, uncles, cousins, siblings, niblings, parents need to be fucking blown to bits or destroy every remaining shred of their humanity in order to boost the cursed MIC, fossil fuels, and insatiable imperialist bloodlust. I hope for nothing but the worst things in life for the architects of this destruction. They deserve nothing short of their remaining days being beaten in the streets and spat upon. They deserve nothing but the contempt and cruelty they bring into the world to be returned to them tenfold. God damn Amerikkka, Allah damn amerikkka, Yahweh damn amerikkka - all nations colors and creeds should denounce and damn this cursed nation and its rabid dogs. How many need to die? And for what? May this spawn a million luigis upon the parasitic ruling class

EPSTEIN COALITION ATTACKS IRAN

[-] Trying2KnowMyself@hexbear.net 51 points 6 days ago

News elsewhere is that Iran has launched missiles now, some of which have hit. I haven’t seen news on exactly what yet.

[-] Muehe@lemmy.ml 39 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Yeah at least two waves have been launched so far:

https://iran.liveuamap.com/en/2026/28-february-08-israeli-military-a-barrage-of-rockets-was
https://iran.liveuamap.com/en/2026/28-february-08-the-israeli-army-says-it-has-detected-another

Missile alerts in northern Israel and Tel Aviv area. Explosions reported near Haifa.

Edit: Explosions reported near Jerusalem as well just a few minutes ago.

[-] Trying2KnowMyself@hexbear.net 59 points 6 days ago

“All American and Israeli assets and interests in the Middle East have become a legitimate target. There are no red lines after this aggression, and everything is possible, including scenarios that were not previously considered,” the official said.

“The United States and Israel have started an aggression and a war that will have wide and long-lasting repercussions. We were not surprised by the joint American-Israeli aggression and we have a complex response with no time limit,” the official stated, adding that any calls for Iran to show restraint or surrender are “unacceptable and mere wishful thinking”.

May every Iranian missile find its target

[-] Muehe@lemmy.ml 37 points 6 days ago

Explosions reported in Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE now. They are certainly not holding back this time.

[-] Mardoniush@hexbear.net 24 points 6 days ago

AMK reports only a few scouting launches in the first wave but that a second wave may have just launched

Hearing rumours that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in one of the strikes. Anyone got anything?

[-] ColombianLenin@hexbear.net 25 points 6 days ago

The answer, as for almost anything from now on is "wait and see".

If they did kill Khamenei tho, I think Iran will get nukes fast tracked

We ask community members to appreciate the uncertainty inherent in critical analysis of current events, the need to constantly learn, and take part in the community with humility. None of us are the One True Leftist, not even you, the reader.

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
