Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf posted on social media, “We will never pursue a ceasefire. Let the enemy know: there will be proportional and immediate retaliation for whatever they do,” adding, “We will fight in a tit-for-tat manner, with no compromises or exceptions.”

Didn't the US start the war by killing Iran's leader? Hm. Hmmmmmm....

[-] fox@hexbear.net 76 points 1 month ago

Iran was attacked twice during ceasefires, they have no reason to trust the USA would ever honor any agreement ever again

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 58 points 1 month ago

That's the problem with being a pathological liar, at some point people realize that nothing you say can be taken seriously.

[-] crusa187@lemmy.ml 53 points 1 month ago

Not just ceasefires - fake pretexts of peace negotiations. Literal cartoon villain shit.

[-] Rom@hexbear.net 49 points 1 month ago

Also Israel never stopped murdering Palestinians, no reason to trust them either

[-] NatakuNox@lemmy.world 65 points 1 month ago

Accepting a ceasefire so Trump can reload and go back on the deal? What a joke. As an American I'd advise Iran to never negotiate with us again. Even if you get a good deal through a democratic president. One zionest can come along and destroy everything. No thanks. Hell I'd ask Russia to park a few nukes on our land.

[-] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 26 points 1 month ago

After the Trump ceasefire deal in Israel, you have to be actively suicidal to consider a ceasefire with Trump and Israel

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 57 points 1 month ago

“Iran believes the war cannot end until President Trump realizes that the economic, political, and military costs are too massive to justify repeating the war.” Iran is demanding a permanent agreement that includes a U.S. pledge never to attack Iran again. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated, “For a ceasefire to be established or the war to halt, there must be a guarantee that attacks on Iran will not recur,” adding, “If another attack occurs months later, such a ceasefire would be meaningless.”

Iranian actions were previously constrained for fear of ending up in an all out war with the US, and they would moderate their response to provocations accordingly. But now Iran has stopped fearing a hypothetical war because they are already living in one. So the whole logic of being restrained no longer applies because you gain nothing by doing that when the US is already bombing the shit out of you. And since they have the upper hand, why not push all the way and remove the US from the region entirely. The alternative is to let the US rebuild, and face the same scenario as before the war again.

A pledge is fucking useless. It should require the removal of US military bases on all neighboring countries

[-] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 27 points 1 month ago

that's what the missiles are for izutsumi-idea

[-] Bluegrass_Addict@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 month ago

The important point is that the usa has to pay reparation

[-] NatakuNox@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

I wonder if we give them Trump and every person in his family and administration as payment?

[-] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 45 points 1 month ago

He can't even stop the war HE started! Mr "I stopped 7 wars and demand a peace prize" Just die already.

[-] Soulphite@reddthat.com 19 points 1 month ago

The pedophile had the gall the say "I can stop this war any time I want"

This piece of shit is so insufferable. It's as if he just does it on purpose, I can't imagine someone is just this way all the time... for no reason. Disgusting.

[-] PwnTra1n@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

He can stop it anytime he wants. His hero did it when he couldn’t win ww2.

[-] Ilixtze@lemmy.ml 44 points 1 month ago

‘We will not relent until making you sorry’: Iranian official tells Trump

Iran’s top national security official, Ali Larijani, has warned Iran will not relent until making US President Donald Trump sorry for his “grave miscalculation” to launch war on the country.

“Trump says he is looking for a speedy victory. While starting a war is easy, it cannot be won with a few tweets,” Larijani said moments ago in a post on X.

“We will not relent until making you sorry for this grave miscalculation. #TrumpMustPay.”

critical support, I'm prepared for life to get nasty within the imperial core, are you?

[-] dermanus@lemmy.ca 15 points 1 month ago

Didn't they get the news? He said it's mostly over! If they don't listen he might tarrif them! Then where will they be?

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 13 points 1 month ago

the really funny part about the whole thing is that Iran managed to basically do the equivalent of sanctions on the US and their allies here, how the tables have turned

[-] megopie@beehaw.org 10 points 1 month ago

Keep Hormuz closed pls. I want higher gas prices so there is a direct and immediate economic incentive to burn less of it, maybe convince people to scrap their pavement princess pickups.

[-] taygaloocat@leminal.space 6 points 1 month ago

Can't argue with that, yank tanks are insufferable

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 month ago

Iran: Quiet piggy.

Although serious question, is it cool for a Muslim to say this? I know that pork is a no-no in their religion. Would appreciate an honest answer.

[-] Aria@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 1 month ago

Pigs aren't sacred animals. You're allowed to mention them. You aren't supposed to eat them, but that rule is less strict than for example, you shouldn't throw away good food because you fancy something else. The reason we hear so much about pork being forbidden in the west is because among cultural muslims, not eating pork is a very easy rule to follow while being somewhat visible.

[-] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Maybe they're going for "destabilize the U.S?" You know, like the U.S's explicit war goal for Iran?

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 month ago

Actually, I think that's exactly the goal. Iran knows they have to fight asymmetrically, and attacking the economies of the US and their allies is basically the plan that they've developed. They've demonstrated their ability to enforce the closure of Hormuz, and this is effectively equivalent to what the US has been doing with economic sanctions directed against the west.
