This looks like the cover art for a NES game called something like Captain Fury.

I do miss this style of painting when there were less fantastical/cartoon elements and more focus on realism with traditional methods. Too much MOBA/isekai slop art nowadays, especially as there's been a shift to digital and artists aren't given enough time and money to work on a piece.

Hell yea dude. Those dudes down by the cars are probably called something like Sys-Enforcers or like B.L.O.O.D. Corp or something.

Also I like how eyepatch guy has a chunky Tec9 style smg that has no visible charging handle or ejection port, but it does has a single swivel mount in case you wanna wear your gun like a necklace I guess

[-] Euergetes@hexbear.net 11 points 4 weeks ago

it's a Walther MP, they did forget the ejection port though. sunglasses guy has an ar 18 and the girl has a skorpion

veritable heap of 80s film guns, i adore it

[-] axont@hexbear.net 7 points 3 weeks ago

Oh hey that is a skorpion, hell yea

This is just me and my fallout followers

No i wont tell you which one it is

If the revolution doesn't look like this then I'm not interested

[-] 7bicycles@hexbear.net 11 points 4 weeks ago

kind of hate to say but it because this does rule but the apocalypse that has LeMans racecars is carbrain.

[-] ConcreteHalloween@hexbear.net 12 points 4 weeks ago

Eh, Idk if this is meant to be straight post-apocalypse and more "dingy cyberpunk". Like a private police force in a cyberpunk dystopia having patrol cars that look like LeMans racecars makes sense.

[-] 7bicycles@hexbear.net 11 points 4 weeks ago

galaxy-brain : the apocalypse can be localized

[-] ConcreteHalloween@hexbear.net 11 points 4 weeks ago

I mean yeah kinda. Isn't that cyberpunk's whole thing, the apocalypse did happen but society kinda managed to keep it together, but now everything's way shittier and weird.

[-] JustSo@hexbear.net 4 points 3 weeks ago

I think that they are very distinct genres that explore different zeitgeist anxieties prevalent in the eras they emerged from. The (explicit or implicit) state of the wider world isn't generally explored or relevant in cyberpunk fiction except maybe as a bit of world building flavor.

Cyberpunk's whole thing is expressing the economic anxieties of the western middle class / petit bourg and creating power fantasies of control in worlds where people are stripped of their agency by extremes of power imbalance and corruption.

the apocalypse can be localized

"The future is already here its just not evenly distributed."

Why does JonTron have a skull crotch plate?

[-] ConcreteHalloween@hexbear.net 13 points 4 weeks ago

It was the only crotch armor he could find for a good price.

[-] Dk_Tankie@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 3 weeks ago

People back then saw this stuff and would genuinely get hard over it, lol

[-] someone@hexbear.net 6 points 4 weeks ago

We should have a Sybil Danning schlock marathon on the hextube sometime.

I guessed right! GW was way cooler when they did ranges other than WH(the Judge Dredd models they where licensed to make were pretty cool and some were recycled into 40k)
