Compounding fines please! And per instance sold. If the fine doesn’t touch 1 Billion CAD then it won’t change things.

Pretty sure they aren't even issuing fines:

In addition, the CFIA stepped up its unannounced meat weight spot checks, and has so far issued warnings but no fines, to seven retailers for violations.

“That’s it! I’m not shopping at SuperStore anymore because they artificially inflate their prices! I’ll shop at Safeway… oh wait, they’re doing it too. I’ll shop at… IGA? For twice the price? Hmm… Walmart, for the same price but half the nutritional content?”

Yeah; until there’s actual penalties that could make the business unviable if they continue to violate the rules, things are unlikely to change.

last time it was 500mil and it clearly didn't change anything. And it's also clear they make more than enough that they're ok with another potential 500mil so I highly doubt 1billion is going to make them stop. Needs to be more. Much more.

Also fuck Loblaws and Metro and all the rest. Seriously if you ever see someone stealing food in any of these places then no the fuck you didn't. if you steal food from these places, then I don't believe you actually did. Just keep an eye out for plains clothes guys wear airpods walking the aisle with no cart or basket.

@Jhex
Are you saying previous fines didn’t correct their behaviour? So far they’ve price fixed bread, maple washed products and now more weight discrepancies. I’m sure another 10k fine to a multi million dollar corporation will set them straight this time. 🙄

They also started dressing Murican products as Canadian ones
