Snip:

The United States has carried out a flagrant act of aggression on an Iranian merchant vessel in the waters of the Sea of Oman, deploying its terrorist marines onto the ship’s deck and disabling its navigation systems.

The spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters on Sunday night condemned the criminal operation by the US Navy.

“The aggressor United States violated the ceasefire and committed maritime piracy by firing at an Iranian merchant ship in the waters of the Sea of Oman and landing a number of its terrorist marines on the deck of the vessel, disabling its navigation system,” Lieutenant-Colonel Ebrahim Zolremovedhari said.

We warn that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will soon respond to this armed piracy and retaliation by the US army,” he added.

the USA is not agreement capable

Yep. In Russian, there is even a long word that means 'not agreement capable' (недоговороспособный) that is used to describe Washington, lol.

Y'know, I really didn't like the idea of weaponizing civilian vessels, but China has been cooking...

So maybe we just see how this plays out?

I predicted they would start doing this after Venezuela, but I thought they would focus efforts more around the straights of Malacca back then.

Very funny of them to understand that the instability of global shipping is caused by this war that they started, because they are unable to stop Iran blockading the strait, so they'll just make the whole situation even more uncertain and unpredictable by just committing acts of piracy. That'll certainly stabilise the market!

Ship is named as "Toska", which has an interesting meaning in Russian. It says the ship is Iranian, so maybe there is a different meaning for this word in Farsi?

Has there ever been a double blockade like this in history? It is rather strange. Iran is controlling traffic in and out of the Strait, while the US appears to be attempting to do something similar for the entire Sea of Oman. Another one of the strategically dubious 5th-dimensional chess moves from the crumbling empire. Trying to consider what remains of an escalation ladder for each side at this point.

If Iran could figure out a way to disable Truth Social for a week or two, that would be pretty funny.

Or maybe introduce a new feature where accounts all post documents from the epstein files every so often.

Hey so what happens when the US becomes a pariah superpower? Asking on behalf of a friend who was too dumb to emigrate.

We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.
