My Pro 7 is making the sad-trombone "almost dead" sound quite a lot in the past few weeks, and the first time I heard it, I didn't know what it was. Because, although I've had the phone for 18 months, I'd never heard that sound before.

This article doesn't have much authoritative information, it's mostly recapping Reddit posts, I guess. But: Is anyone else here having the same issue?

...numerous reports point to an undiagnosed issue causing batteries in Pixel phones, including the new Pixel 10 series, to drain much faster than they did previously.

...one user claims it may be because of a GPS-related bug preventing the CPU from entering into a “suspended” state — also known as Doze specifically in Android’s context — when not being used. The user points out, “the Exynos baseband/GNSS module is caught in a persistent polling loop, causing a hardware interrupt storm even when the device is completely isolated in Airplane Mode with all radios manually toggled off.” This, in turn, keeps the CPU up and running, resulting in the drain.

I haven't noticed a thing on my Pixel 9 Pro running GrapheneOS.

Nothing from my end running 7 Pro GrapheneOS.

My 7 pro with Graphene is running well too.

How does it work with Graphene? Are updates rolled out quickly after Google's release?

[-] scott@lem.free.as 5 points 1 month ago

Usually within 24 hours or so. Security updates, on the other hand, are released months before they are on regular Google Pixel releases as GrapheneOS doesn't adhere to the embargo period that other manufacturers agree to.

I've noticed mine running a little warm, and possibly reduced battery life. But I can't back that up with before/after data.

Mine runs a little warm too, but I have hotspot on 100% of the time, as I use it as my wifi source. Battery life is still very good.

My Pixel 10 rarely got below 45% battery prior to the update. It's now sitting at 28% after a day's light use.

so it isn't just me??! i'm on grapheneOS, but I also feel like my battery went to shit sometime mid march. it also started taking forever to charge from 77% up to 80 with battery optimization enabled

I'm having the same issue on Graphene

Wait, you mean I upgraded from my Pixel 6 Pro over a battery drain bug? And I thought its battery was finally toast!

[-] tiredofsametab@fedia.io 2 points 1 month ago

Nothing I've really noticed on my stock Pixel 6 Pro. It mostly sits on my desk getting used for Anki about 40 minutes a day, the odd message view when I'm away from my desk, and getting charged each night (with the battery manager on so 80% until a bit before I wake up).

Graphene on 8Pro, I have this issue as well. If I don't plug the phone in overnight it is dead the next morning. I used to get through a second day.

Interesting. I haven't noticed any change, but it is possible I haven't been paying enough attention because I don't use my phone when I'm sititng in front of PC.

I'm running GrapheneOS on Pixel 8 and my battery usually last around 4 days. It could probably last longer if Element (Matrix) wasn't running all the time on the background.

[-] greatwhitebuffalo41@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I've just been having an issue where one of about 6 apps keeps running in the background even when it's set to not run in the background. It'll eat about 20% of my battery in an hour and a half and I'll have to force close the app. I usually notice because my phone will be in my pocket and it starts getting very warm.

Stock pixel 8 BTW.
