Reddit improved their anti-ban evasion system, cuz it's the sixth or more failed attempt at evading a permanent ban. Never more, I am staying here.

FUCK YOU, SPEZ!

Ugh. So much to unpack here.

First off, you have to act like a massive shit-loaf to get perma'ed from Reddit in the first place. Now you're declaring your love for this community because you can't get back into Reddit.

Welcome, I guess.

[-] PDFuego@lemmy.world 43 points 1 year ago

Right. More often than not when these posts pop up you can check their comment history and see exactly why they keep getting banned.

In a lot of cases, yes. Not in all of them, due to bot-based bans.

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 20 points 1 year ago

It'd be a real shame if fascists were abusing the harassment report on anyone that disagrees with them.

I got permabanned arguing with right wing trolls. I don't think I was too bad, but maybe?

[-] Krudler@lemmy.world 28 points 1 year ago

Who can say, right? The gears of Reddit are inscrutable.

That said, when you engage with an extremist, there's always 20 other extremists looking at your replies and just waiting to report you if you say the slightest mean thing. They are mucilaginous troglodytes and one mustn't extend to them the credence that they're dealing in good faith.

I had an account perma'd there for saying "the only good nazi is a dead nazi" which I accept was against TOS but would argue does not make me a "massive shit-loaf"

[-] soggy_kitty@sopuli.xyz 13 points 1 year ago

I got perma banned for saying the mods ban people too easy and they need to rethink their criteria for ban Guess I'm a "massive shit-loaf" with you too

Untrue

[-] Mr_Blott@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yep I got permabanned for saying I'd lick the sweat out of a fat chick's folds for €20

Maybe the price was too high, I dunno

It’s actually not too hard to get perma’d due to a handful of bullshit/nonsensical bans that just stack up over time. Also, they were VERY liberal with the permaban hammer around when they announced the API lockdown.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

I got permabanned on Reddit (it got turned around because even the mods of the subreddit and of other subreddits said it was bullshit) for making a joke about wishing Indiana's attorney general got punched in the face because he said something about something being a punch in the face. Like they banned me for jokingly wishing what he said happened to him metaphorically would just happen to him. Not saying someone should do it, certainly not saying I would do it, just wishing that it would happen. Permaban from all of Reddit for a joke that didn't actually call for violence and was clearly just referencing the post's headline.

Please don't bring that attitude to lemmy. I just want peace. I honestly don't know what you did but chances are its not going to be welcome here

[-] Fungah@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

Am I the only one who wants it to stay exactly like it is?

Maybe a weird take coming from a recent redditfugee butnbint feels perfect as is. Like reddit read before all the enshittifcation like 8 years ago.

which niche porn communities are you looking for

[-] abbadon420@lemm.ee 28 points 1 year ago

Many niche subs, have been forcibly removed during the protest era.

[-] EternalNicodemus@lemmy.world 20 points 1 year ago

lmao, nothing, just some more obscure games

[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 80 points 1 year ago

Right but which porn games

[-] EternalNicodemus@lemmy.world 26 points 1 year ago

Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead (Zomboid like game, but 10x harder) and MechTech

[-] transientDCer@lemdro.id 13 points 1 year ago

10x harder than zomboid? Fuck that.

The obscure videogame subreddits are what I miss the most. Made one here on lemmy for a game I love and only one other person has commented since July.

I finally overwrote all my comments and deleted my account. 16 years there, but as soon as I checked the front page this week before deleting, every comment and post was the same old "this" and "take my upvote" and vitriolic hate toward different or uncommon opinions, zero dialogue, such a mess

Thanks lemmings

[-] genoxidedev1@kbin.social 47 points 1 year ago

You forgot "and my axe", "to shreds you say" and "I wish they didn't remove awards so I could give you one", or maybe even the 'rare' "take my angry upvote and leave"?

Yeah I like that we can actually hold real conversations here, as far as 'real' goes of course.

[-] Varyk@sh.itjust.works 28 points 1 year ago

Yup. It feels like I am usually talking to individuals here, which is much more enjoyable than flailing in an overwhelming monoculture.

That's a new one to me! Because they still had awards the last time I used it.

I evaded my lifetime ban for more than 5 years on my new main.
The hell are you posting there?!

[-] Sentrovasi@kbin.social 24 points 1 year ago

Yeah these posts by people who consistently get banned always have me feeling a little skeptical (no shade on OP if legit).

What'd you get banned for?

[-] BURN@lemmy.world 32 points 1 year ago

I got banned for telling some right wing troll to go fuck themselves and can’t get around their ban evasion now either. Reddit got really soft and bans for any “personal attack”

[-] joyjoy@lemm.ee 19 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Reddit got really soft and bans for any “personal attack”

Can you get around it if you suffix every comment with "Nothing personal."

Fuck you. Nothing personal.

[-] samus12345@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

To be extra sure, also preface it:

No offense, but fuck you. Nothing personal.

You can definitely get around it, but is it really worth the effort?

[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

They started banning much more freely shortly before the whole 3P API fuckery - surely as another part of the IPO prep. I was getting banned for relatively innocuous comments, and would always get my account reactivated a week after appealing. My last appeal was accepted during the blackout, but I just never bothered to log back on ...

Got banned for harassing mods because I was asking why I got banned automatically for participating in a different subreddit. As soon as I sent my second request asking why I was banned, I got permabanned.

Start your niche community on lemmy then advertise it in some other groups. You might be surprised how much better it is here.

[-] banneryear1868@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I still have a bunch of accounts but it's actually not a friendly site to use. I remember telling friends about it back in the day and they'd try and use the site, then they'd come back and be like "everyone on that site is an asshole." I'd explain it in some dumb way but it's basically true in essence. I even modded some default subs like 10 years ago and it was the first time I started hating the site.

Even hobby subs had these issues. Like the top post in r/synthesizers would be about some youtube personality and people debating about drama. People who post actual music and productive things don't get upvoted. Saying you liked the "wrong" people got you made fun of. Super trend/hype based as well. I posted asking for advice for a product to buy once, and was heavily discouraged from getting what I thought was the right thing, I got it anyway, and now it's basically a meme as the top recommended product for that purpose on that sub.

Basically moved to forums and discord servers for a lot of interests and it's so much better than reddit. Early 2010s was the golden age for the site back when there'd be those reddit meetups and stuff.

I'm in the process of deleting my posts in a few accounts in preparation to delete them.

Reddit isn't the same place it was when I first signed up. On so many levels it proceeded to get worse year after year. Shitty mods, paid political bot brigading to drown out discussion, general discourse devolution, innovation decline of generally loved features are some of my biggest complaints of that platform.

Don't get me wrong reddit was always a bit of anarchy, but the best comments somehow managed to rise up. Not so much anymore. Maybe I'm just getting old and some of the comment contents don't interest me in the same way it used to.

I don't mind being part of this community even though some of the sub's have less activity. The activity seems to be of a better quality for the most part imho.

For me I don't miss reddit at all.

[-] Lizzy_Wizzy@lemm.ee 15 points 1 year ago

They literally banned me for "abusing the report feature" like I'm sorry are you asking me NOT to report heinous bigotry?? Fuck reddit and fuck spez

r/fuckyouinparticular did their ban some random person for 3 days to me even though I don't even use my reddit account anymore and just let it sit there taking space on reddots servers
