It wasn't OK for Luke to blow up the death star, everyone knows that violence just leads to more violence. I'm sure the rebels should've just worked it out peacefully with the empire, violent retribution never solves anything. Besides, most of the stormtroopers on the death star probably didn't even support the destruction of Alderaan.
