I've suffered with anxiety since I was a kid, and things like CBT don't seem to work for me at all. I know pills from the doctor are available, but I only want to go down that route as a last resort.

So does anyone have any experience with CBD products for treating anxiety? The reviews online seem mixed on whether they actually work.

CBD generally doesn’t do much without THC. That being said, putting chemicals into your body is putting chemicals into your body. Better to use something that has peer reviewed research behind it imo.

I will add that therapy effectiveness depends more on the quality of the provider and your relationship with that provider than the type of therapy you engage in (CBT, DBT, etc). Just like medications, sometimes it takes a few tries to find the right fit. Medication will be most effective when paired with therapy and vice versa.

Lack of research into THC is wholly due to moral panic. Weed was criminalized and legislated into the ground preventing it from being researched (not eligible for research grants or normal funding).

I can easily say it helped with my anxiety. So one anecdotal data point in support.

CBD does a lot without THC, it's just not psychoactive. So it won't make you feel high but it will certainly relax you and ease mild pains.

Yes, I have had great experiences with cbd, with the caveat that most commercial products have too low a dose to be effective. Cbd does not dose numerically like thc. It wants much higher doses to be effective for most users. The good news is that cbd isolate is dirt cheap, less than $1/g. Get yourself some cbd isolate and some empty capsules. Dose ~100mg and go from there.

That said, I have much better experiences with CBG for daytime anxiety. I'm a glowing, golden angel with a good dose of CBG in me. I'm also so focused and productive it's ridiculous. Seriously consider CBG and CBN for anxiety maintenance. CBN is more sedating, better for night/bedtime, also good for panic attacks in my experience.

Do you have any experience with how CBD work coming from the perspective of a heavy smoker?

Everything she said. Get isolate and capsules, you need a minimum 100mg, not the 10mg in OTC edibles. I've seen people using it for physical problems dosing multiple grams a day.

I'm also all about CBG and CBN, CBG in the morning and CBN at night. CBNo is also great.

My sister uses it for both anxiety and sleep. It works wonders for her. I have tried every type of CBD supplement, oil, edible, shampoo, clothes, etc I've been able to get my hands on and have seen ZERO effect on me. Your mileage may vary.

Like any medication/supplement, your personal experience will vary. That's a big part of why the reviews are mixed online.

I'd suggest trying one product and switching to another if you're not feeling any changes within a couple of weeks. If the second product doesn't work, then CBD may not work for you.

I never saw much of a difference

I really want to say yes because I love weed.

I take a prescribed medication for my anxiety, along with the support of talking to strangers about what my stresses are and that definitely helps.

I've used CBD for a 6mo period of time and I feel that it didn't help the situation, but masked it during times when I would be exposed to my stressors. So if I used something throughout the week, that meant I'd have a breakdown/meltdown over the weekend where I could just eat a tub of junk food and binge watch a show. I really thought it was helping ke, but like any substance you develop a tolerance.

So I just stuck with weed, but eventually the same problem would come up where I was just masking it, but I was high and smiling all the time. Productivity kinda dropped but boy did reading become fun again.

I really hate pumping my body full of pills, and I'm not going to lie and say it's not masking it either, but I feel like the mask is a constant while I work out my issues it a healthier way vs. just kinda sitting around in a fog.

What's comical is that I'm finding out my cause for anxiety seems to be coming from what I think ADHD is? My inability to focus on projects and see them to completion is a HUGE stressor to me, making me anxious all the time. I think once I'm in a better headspace I'll transition to looking into that deeper in hopes that my assumption is correct.

Have a lot of this myself. THC and Adderall have helped me immensely.

CBD is anti-inflammatory.

Sometimes anxiety is a result of inflammation. Sometimes it’s not.

Yes, my partner and I both. CBD is an amazing compound.

Edibles don't work well for me personally so I'd recommend a vaporizer + cbd flower. I've found a couple that chill me right out, but when I'm on the right meds I don't need it at all.

I've never had CBD by itself but back in university once tried some medical grade weed which had been grown to minimize THC content and maximize CBD content. It was amazing - as someone prone to anxiety when I smoke - I found it to almost be like a different drug. Extremely relaxing with no racing thoughts. My flatmate and I even tried it on the tail end of mushrooms and instead of bringing the peak back like would usually happen it completely stopped the trip. Similar to having a large glass of wine or a valium.
