Image is of General Abdourahamane Tiani, leader of Niger (left) and Ibrahim Traoré, leader of Burkina Faso (right).

The Alliance of Sahel States (ASS) formed on September 16th in the wake of the coup in Niger in late July, in which Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso created a military and increasingly economic alliance in which attacking one would result in the other two joining. This was initially most relevant militarily, as ECOWAS was threatening an invasion of Niger if they did not restore civilian rule. Nonetheless, due to a mixture of a lack of real strength in ECOWAS due to Nigeria's internal problems, and the influence of Algeria, a very strong regional military power who negotiated against a war which could further destabilise an already destabilised region, and the vague promises of future civilian rule, the external military threat seems to have mostly dissipated.

However, internal threats remain. Burkina Faso is fighting against ISIS and al-Qaeda, which commit regular massacres of civilians; the government controls only 60% of the country. In Mali, the government is fighting against similar groups as well as the Tuareg, which inhabit the more sparsely populated north of the country - the government is in the process of kicking out the UN mission to Mali, and in the process retaking rebel stronghold cities like Kidal, which is raising some eyebrows as to what exactly the UN was doing all this time; and Niger is fighting against similar Islamic groups too, and is kicking out the French for being exploitative motherfuckers. Combine this with the sanctions against Niger which are crippling the country, disease outbreaks in Burkina Faso, and just the general shitty state of the world economy, and the situation is not looking very good currently.

That all being said, economy and trade ministers from all three countries have met this past weekend in Bamako, the capital of Mali. There, they recommended that the countries: improve the free movement of people inside the ASS (don't laugh!); construct and strengthen infrastructure like dams and roads; construct a food safety system; establish a stabilization fund and investment bank; and even create a common airline. This is all attracting foreign attention too - Russia has signed a deal to build Africa's largest gold refinery in Mali, and China is the second largest investor into Niger after France, ploughing money into the gold and uranium industries there. And, of course, the Wagner group is in the region - though I'm unsure if they're having a major or minor impact on events there.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA daily-ish reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon. - Telegram is @IbnRiad.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis. - Telegram is @EyesOnSouth.
English-language Twitter account in the same group as the previous two. - Telegram here.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.
More telegram channels here for those interested.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists

Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches. Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.

A number of examples of algorithms and AI being used to collude in today's NC - https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2023/11/new-technologies-to-get-around-old-laws-ai-is-being-widely-used-to-evade-antitrust-fix-prices-and-worse.html

Researchers there wrote earlier this year that while the use of AI might be new, the antitrust laws that govern this type of behavior have been around for more than 140 years. And while AI might increase the speed of price-fixing based on up-to-the-second data, they’re otherwise nothing new:

Let’s just change the terms of the hypothetical slightly to understand why. Everywhere the word “algorithm” appears, please just insert the words “a guy named Bob.” Is it ok for a guy named Bob to collect confidential price strategy information from all the participants in a market, and then tell everybody how they should price? If it isn’t ok for a guy named Bob to do it, then it probably isn’t ok for an algorithm to do it either.

European Communist Action's Founding Declaration

The founding meeting of a new regional form of cooperation between the communist and workers’ parties of Europe, called European Communist Action (ECA), took place in Athens on 18/11/23, at the invitation of the KKE.

The founding meeting was attended by delegations from 12 parties in Europe, namely the Party of Labour of Austria, the Communist Workers’ Party – for Peace and Socialism (Finland), the Communist Revolutionary Party of France, the Communist Party of Greece, the Workers Party of Ireland, the Communist Front (Italy), the New Communist Party of the Netherlands, the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain, the Communist Party of Sweden, the Swiss Communist Party, the Communist Party of Türkiye and the Union of Communists of Ukraine.

During the founding meeting, the Founding Declaration of the ECA, which is presented below, as well as an initial plan of activities of the ECA for the coming period were discussed and approved.

On the eve of the founding meeting, the delegations took part in the mass anti-imperialist rally on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Polytechnic Uprising.

Full declaration

Its good that european communist parties are organizing together, but the member list reads like KKE and friends

Anyone who accuses the Isn'treally Defense Forces of targeting unarmed Palestinian civilians clearly neglected to consider THESE GUNS palestine-strong

(without meaning to detract from or make light of their indiscriminate murder of thousands of children, among others, in Gaza.)

Grim and rage inducing.

This is the Tal Al-Hawa area where I live. For the first time we made it here as Israeli tanks retreated a little bit.

There are over 150 7 to 11 floor buildings in this area most of them were destroyed or substantially damaged. Tens of thousands will be homeless for years as they lost their homes and businesses and life savings.

There was barely any armed resistance in this area and yet it was destroyed like areas with fierce fighting.

Israel will destroy and kill Palestinians whether they resist and defend themselves or not.

Nitter

I suggest you start watching the video from ~0:12. Before that you make out anything. The camera is shooting the ground from very confusing perspectives.

So it seems likely that SCOTUS is going to side with the hedge fund manager suing the SEC saying that they violated his right to trial by jury by using administrative courts instead letting him have a jury trial after he got caught defrauding investors. I have to wonder, how fucking out of touch is this dude and all the other people supporting him if they think a jury of people off the street is going to give them a better verdict and punishment than an administrative court? Yeah man, I'm sure the jury full of pensioners and poor people who can't get out of jury duty for your securities fraud case are going to be very sympathetic to you lol. If I end up on a securities fraud jury, I'm voting guilty and pushing for the death penalty regardless of whether it's applicable or not. It seems like they think it's going to make the SEC's job harder by having to prepare for a jury trial, but it might actually make it easier.

We all know that Israel is kettling Gazans into the southern part of Gaza. But I don't understand something Norm Finkelstein said in an interview...

Israel plans to push the entire population of Gaza into an area the size of Los Angeles airport, despite it being among the most densely populated places on Earth.

What exactly is he talking about? What region of Gaza is that size? Google didn't know.

It's from this Krystal Ball interview - Norm Finkelstein GOES OFF: Israel, Hillary, Human Shields & Ben Shapiro - YouTube

Rybar November 28, 2023

spoiler❗️🇮🇱🇵🇸 (https://rybar.ru/piwigo/upload/2023/11/28/20231128202449-e70b29ac.jpg) Aggravation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict zone chronicle of events leading up to November 28, 2023

🔻 Last night, Israel and Hamas successfully exchanged 11 hostages for 33 Palestinian prisoners. The parties also agreed to extend the ceasefire period by two days. As part of the new agreements, today it is planned to exchange 10 more hostages for 30 prisoners. Additionally, Hamas promises to transfer six to eight Thai citizens to the Red Cross.

▪️ CIA Director William Burns and Mossad Chief David Barnea have arrived in Qatar to negotiate a further extension of the truce. Israeli authorities note that the IDF is using this pause to prepare and develop plans for continuing hostilities with the aim of destroying Hamas.

🔻 Meanwhile, in the Gaza Strip itself, the parties have again accused each other of violating the ceasefire, resulting in some IDF soldiers being injured.

▪️ Representatives of the Israeli Ministry of Defense claim that the militants detonated three explosive devices, after which they fired at IDF positions. Preliminary data suggests that five Israeli soldiers were injured.

▪️ Hamas claims that the Israeli side was the first to violate the ceasefire, and the Palestinian forces were forced to retaliate. However, the group has expressed its readiness to continue observing the ceasefire as long as the Israelis remain committed to it.

🔻 The situation remains calm on the northern border of Israel. Arab media published information about shelling by Israeli troops on the outskirts of Ait al-Shaab, but the incident has not been confirmed.

🔻 Meanwhile, clashes between Israeli security forces and local residents continue in the West Bank. The most violent clashes have occurred in Hebron, Tubas, Deir Ammar, and the suburbs of Ramallah.

▪️ The tense situation continues in the area of Ofer prison, where dozens of disgruntled residents gather before each exchange. They set fire to tires in front of the establishment and clash with security forces. During one of these clashes, a Palestinian was killed.

Truce talks reach 'dead end' as Mossad team ordered to leave Qatar — Times of Israel

A team from Israel’s Mossad intelligence services has been ordered home after talks in Qatar for another pause in fighting in Gaza reaching a “dead end”, the Times of Israel reports.

“Due to the dead end in negotiations, and following instructions from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Mossad head David Barnea ordered the negotiating team in Doha to return home,” said a statement from Netanyahu’s office issued on behalf of the intelligence agency.

“The Hamas terror group did not fulfill its obligations under the agreement that included releasing all the women and children that were on the list provided to Hamas that had authorized it,” the statement said, according to the Times of Israel.
