Due to American cluster bombing campaigns advised by Kissinger during the Vietnam War to damage supply lines, over 2 million tonnes of ordinance were dropped on Laos over about a decade, averaging a planeload of bombs every 8 minutes. Laos is thus the most bombed country on the planet up to this point. 80 million bombs failed to explode - the cleanup operation is expected to take centuries, and 25,000 people have been killed and injured by bombs in the last 50 years. About 50 people are killed or injured every year to this day.

After the United States withdrew from Laos, the Pathet Lao took power and abolished the monarchy. Kaysone Phomvihane became a dominant figure in Laotian politics, keeping the course on Marxism-Leninism and implementing the first Five Year Plan in 1981. The second Five Year Plan in 1986 was modelled on Lenin's NEP, and this doubled rice production and significantly increased sugar production. After the fall of the USSR, Laos allowed a small capitalist class to exist, with similar control over them as in China. Laos maintains a 48-hour work week with paid sick leave, vacation time, and maternity leave, and workers are well-represented in trade unions. They faired relatively well during coronavirus from a social standpoint due to quick and efficient action to lock down the country, experiencing ~750 deaths out of a population of over 7 million.

There is hope even after utter destruction by genocidal oppressors.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA daily-ish reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon. - Telegram is @IbnRiad.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis. - Telegram is @EyesOnSouth.
English-language Twitter account in the same group as the previous two. - Telegram here.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.
More telegram channels here for those interested.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful. Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

from Monday https://www.cnn.com/2023/12/04/business/some-traders-appear-to-have-anticipated-october-7-hamas-attack-research-finds/index.html

Bets against the value of Israeli companies spiked in the days before the October 7th Hamas attacks, suggesting some traders may have had advance knowledge of the looming terror attack and profited off it, according to new research released Monday.

The preliminary research, which hasn’t been peer reviewed, is from law professors at Columbia University and New York University and details a “significant” and “unusual” spike five days before the attacks in short selling in the most popular fund linked to Israeli companies. Short selling is a way to bet against the value of a security.

Those bets against the value of the MSCI Israel Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) in the days before the October 7 attack “far exceeded” the short selling activity that took place during the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2014 Israel-Gaza war and the 2008 global financial crisis, the paper finds.

look at this weak ass deboonking pathetic https://www.cnn.com/2023/12/05/business/israeli-regulators-unusual-trading-october-7/index.html

Israel’s top securities regulator said in an updated statement on Tuesday that it has not detected suspicious trading activity on the Israeli stock exchange in the days leading up to the October 7 Hamas attack.

The statement from the Israel Securities Authority (ISA) raises questions about some of the findings in a research paper released Monday that found an unusual spike in bets against Israeli securities just before the attack.

However, that research, from professors at New York University and Columbia University, did not exclusively focus on trading on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. Instead, it relied heavily on short selling activity on a fund listed in New York, and Israeli regulators did not review that trading.

The Israel Securities Authority (ISA) said Tuesday that its technology intelligence system, which regularly monitors trading, did not uncover “significant trading abnormalities” that required further investigation prior to the terror attack.

A proactive examination, carried out immediately following October 7, similarly did not “wield any findings” suggesting “suspicious trading activity,” the ISA statement said.

The Israeli regulator said it did reexamine trading several weeks ago after it became aware of forthcoming research. The ISA said its reexamination “did not raise any concerns regarding suspicious activity on the stock exchange in Israel during the relevant days.”

In fact, the ISA said it found that the average short balances for shares traded on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange declined during the period just before October 7.

By contrast, the NYU and Columbia research found that bets against Israeli securities trades in Tel Aviv “increased dramatically.”

The new research, which has not been peer reviewed, relied heavily on short selling in a popular fund linked to Israeli companies. That fund, the MSCI Israel Exchange Traded Fund (ETF), trades on the New York Stock Exchange, not in Tel Aviv.

ISA noted in its statement that it supervises trading in Israel and its findings on suspicious trading “reflect only trading activity in Israel.”

Guatemala's King Cuck has reassured Taiwan that his government will maintain ties with them if he ever manages to become president. This dude is an entire circus. Channels Bernie Sanders to pander to his pro-US SocDems, promises to cut us off from Russian vaccines, calls off the protests that indigenous and student groups were doing over him, and now decides to back Taiwan because he claims countries that switched their allegiance to the PRC were disappointed by the lack of aid and subpar infrastructure.

Taiwan promises infrastructure and aid too but it pales in comparison to what China offers and does a lot more government interference than the PRC does despite what Washington wants people to think.

I say this while currently staying in Taiwan. Beautiful country with great people but the DPP government can fuck right off. Not that the KMT was much better with Guatemala but their policies towards China are less hostile.

The IDF minister has a vibe. He "sees signs" but he didn't elaborate and he has no evidence.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant claimed Friday that he sees signs Hamas is at a breaking point in Gaza.

“Whoever thought a month ago that (they) would extinguish our lights, it is proven day after day what the results are. In the State of Israel, there is light, and in Gaza, there is darkness. This will continue to intensify. I see the signs that indicate (Hamas is) beginning to break inside Gaza,” he told Israeli soldiers during a Hanukkah candle lighting event.

He didn’t elaborate further and didn’t provide any evidence to support his assessment.

The defense minister’s remark comes as the Israeli forces intensify attacks in the northern and southern Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military said earlier Friday that approximately 450 targets in Gaza were struck over the past day – the highest number reported since the end of the truce a week ago.

It seems that Suriname, like Brazil, has mobilized its troops to the border with Guyana. Unfortunately, I can't find much information about this, as most of their newspapers are in Dutch.

I'm starting to lean towards thinking Maduro is acting in his own political self interests.

Maybe in the short term it is preferable for the people of Venezuela that Maduro and his left neo-liberals stay in power because the alternative is the right wing neo-liberals. Its just as possible though that because he is being a neo-liberal and not a communist that eventually the right wing will take over and they will be past neo-liberalism, straight into fascism and the purges will be long and bloody.

I'm convinced of it now as I write this. Maduro is a dem-soc and because he isn't putting the fascists to the wall the fascists will eventually coup him and kill a shit ton of people like they have a dozen times before.

The war he is starting will go horribly because he thinks he has gotten the OK from USA and they will spin around and fuck him. Guyana will be a US proxy war and nobody will help Venezuela as much as they will need. Maduro will become deeply unpopular and the Fascists will coup him and socialist blood will run in the streets.

Essequibo: Annexation vs Incorporartion

"Annexation vs. Incorporation

Mainstream media has also launched a campaign alleging military skirmishes on the border of Venezuela and the Essequibo territory, including accusations of imminent annexation of the disputed territory by Venezuela. The campaign is clearly promoted by US mainstream media. According to Orinoco Tribune Editor Jesús Rodríguez-Espinoza, many Western leftists have fallen into the trap of this narrative.

“The fact is that Venezuela is not the aggressor state in this dilemma,” said Rodríguez-Espinoza. “Guyana is by not recognizing the 1966 Geneva Agreement, with its recurrent military drills and high-level visits of US Southern Command officials to Guyana, its active participation in the extinct Lima Group aiming to isolate Venezuela diplomatically, the granting of oil concessions in waters that are not even part of the dispute and belong to Venezuela, with the arrogant position of Guyanese President Irfaan Ali rejecting multiple calls by President Maduro to resolve the issue using diplomatic means.”

“No one in Venezuela is talking about annexation or military aggression against Guyana,” he added. “No one is doing that. But the international campaign outside Venezuela is pushing in that direction, and that is very troublesome. The referendum is to symbolically incorporate the territory as another state and initiate plans to grant social services and Venezuelan citizenship to those living in the area. This is the most diplomatic and peaceful tool to begin exercising sovereignty over a territory that Venezuela has proven, with documents, belongs to it.”

The Venezuelan analyst and Orinoco Tribune editor also added that US mainstream media and the White House are trying to portray the recent Essequibo escalation and the referendum as an attempt by President Maduro to distract from economic problems and the opposition primaries. In reality—according to Rodríguez-Espinoza—the Venezuelan economy is recovering at a steady rhythm, and there is a positive attitude among Venezuelans regarding economic prospects. Meanwhile, few Venezuelans paid much attention to the opposition primaries, as the low turnout numbers demonstrated."
