Starting to get into Monarch (Apple TV). Sweet Home (Netflix) just released their second season and I'm geeked to check that out.

I think my favorite Movie in the Disaster category is going to be This is the End (2013).

The Postman. A shitty movie based off an absolutely amazing book.

The Posiden Adventure. I must have seen this 20 times growing up in the 80s.

A lot of great movies/shows are already mentioned! I wanted to add a quite unknown one "The Salute of the Jugger". And when I think of it with a similar scenario "Mad Max Fury Road"

I enjoyed Greenland with Gerrard Butler. I appreciated the focus on the human element that didn't feel annoying.

Called Greenland.

Clearly goes to Iceland.

I actually liked the Sharknado movies. They're dumb as shit, but it's a good stupid kinda laugh.

Tidal Wave (2009) is a Korean disaster flick that has some of the most realistic tsunami scenes I've ever seen (some fun over-the-top ones too). Takes a while to get to the action, it makes sure you care about the characters before all hell breaks loose. Definitely worth checking out.

Geostorm is one of my guilty pleasures!

Falls into the category "so bad it's ~~watchable~~ good".

It's a Disaster (2012) very fun little indie with David Cross

I unironically enjoyed Knowing (2009).

Also more light-hearted - Seeking A Friend for the End of the World (2012)

Not entirely disaster films, but the world ends in both.

[-] PandaPikachu@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

I love disaster films and I thought "Knowing" was great. I do think the ending could've been better, but everything up to that point was very entertaining.

[-] eagleeyedtiger@lemmy.nz 2 points 11 months ago

Have to agree with you there. The ending was the weakest part of it.

Wyrmwood! Australian zombie movie. Hilariously ridiculous!

Dantes peak is a movie I think I liked more than other folks, not my fav but definitely in the rotation.
