When that scene aired the collapse was such a recent thing, barely more than 6 years prior... I don't really know how to feel about that.
Personally, I think time actually makes it funnier. The longer it's been, the more absurd the joke is.
I love it when specific games develop multi-decade long fanbases who put the time and effort into really cracking it wide open.
