The death of Zionism has just massively accelerated.

previous preamble

BRICS has expanded to include Ethiopia, Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Argentina is currently experiencing technical difficulties due to the election of the ancap clown Milei - once he's out of office, maybe they can try again.

I don't really have much to say about this one way or another. BRICS has, so far, made only nervous and small steps towards challenging US hegemony. This isn't really that unexpected, as only China and Russia are the real "true believers" in ending US hegemony (and even then, China's government either believes, or is pretending to believe, that reconciliation is still possible). Brazil, India, and South Africa are less enthralled by the concept of dethroning the US, most especially India, who had to make a firm decision in 2023 whether they were going to be on the side of America, or on the side of the Global South, and chose the former, strengthening their military relationship. They're still best of friends with Russia, but they are very obviously the sussy imposter of the BRICS group.

The prospects of BRICS are only really loosely correlated with the prospects of multipolarism, though. It's not a process that hinges on BRICS's successes or failures. It is coming because the contender states (in Desai's terminology) are irreversibly rising, and the US is irreversibly falling. If it will not be BRICS that leads, it will be a different organization. A better world is not only possible, but inevitable - unfortunately for the US.

I'm taking a week off the updates because I've been swamped lately, and also feel the need to reconfigure (and find new) sources. Needless to say that I've grown tired of Financial Times headlines, even if they do represent the actual views of the bourgeoisie.

The Country of the Week is Ethiopia! Feel free to chime in with books, essays, longform articles, even stories and anecdotes or rants. More detail here.

Last week's thread is here.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA daily-ish reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon. - Telegram is @IbnRiad.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis. - Telegram is @EyesOnSouth.
English-language Twitter account in the same group as the previous two. - Telegram here.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.
More telegram channels here for those interested.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful. Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

In a few years (months even?) we will see yet another Call of Duty (TM) where we get to play as a MARINE HURRAH and we invade some middle eastern country with an insanely unimaginative name like "UPIKISTAN" whose government is a cartoonishly evil regime and they will make it look like Ansar Allah without saying Ansar Allah because this "FICTIONAL" country has been "disrupting commerce" and just boarding cargo ships and killing people for no reason at all other than being evil and america bad i guess.

And of course the Russians are behind all of this.

Got a bad feeling that there will be more airstrikes against Yemen tonight. People joke that the US strike last night only took out one radar installation, but if that was an important radar installation Yemen's air defense/detection capabilities might have been weakened enough for more strikes with cover from American EA-18G electronic warfare fighter jets.

In a meeting on Thursday, Israel’s Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant, told Sullivan the war in Gaza would last “more than several months,” according to Israel’s Ministry of Defense.

“It will require a period of time – it will last more than several months, but we will win and we will destroy them (Hamas),” Gallant said, according to a transcript of the meeting released on Thursday.

Helpful little editorial added by CNN there to clarify his comments.

The current situation in ecuador reminds me a lot to what happened here in México.

In the 90s neoliberalism became the ideology of the ruling party (PRI) when let to a bunch of new reforms with the goal to liberalize the economy in a neolib way.

The country still hadnt recovered from the economic crisis in the 80s so the reforms didnt helpnthe popilation and in many cases made the situation worst culminating in the 1994 financial crisis.

During this time people started to join the sector of the economy that didnt depend on the national economy, the biggest one being the cartels, they had existed for a while but during the financial crisis they grew to their biggest extent making very strong.

The then PRI policy with them was to not deal with them as long as they didnt commit any violent crime

For some time the USA had try to push the gov in México to deal with the cartels in a more agressive way instead of the then very passive policy of the PRI, but all this change with the election of the PAN into goverment in 2000.

PAN are a conservative party just like the Republicans of Bush, during their first presidency they try to get closer to washington but due to not wanting to involve the country in the war on Terror, this cause a bunch of problems and a hostility between Mex and the USA that wouldnt be fixed until the last year of the first PAN presidency.

During the Second PAN presidency the main policy was to fixed all internacional relations that the previous presidency ruined including the USA, the President of México got the great idea to declare a war on drugs like the USA with washington promising to totally help them while not letting US troops into the country since thats a big nono in Mexican politics.

The Mexican drug was has caused 400 thousand dead, millions displaced, massive uptick in violent crime, 60k missing people. It been terrible pretty much and i think ecuador is walking the same route pretty much. Even with US support i dont think they will send troops to ecuadir and if they do they will do the bare minimum while the violence keeps growing

17% drop in total votes for the DPP in this election vs the last election is a significant development. TPP took those votes from them.

TPP 2020: 11.22%

TPP 2024: 26.46%

KMT might win the next election if the US comprador vote continues to split in this way.

According to a paranoid press release from the office of the self-styled "prime minister" of the illegal zionist entity, KHamas is everywhere and has been planning terrorist attacks against the so-called "embassy" of the illegal zionist entity in Sweden.

All western piggies should be afraid of KHamas, as the press release claims that:

Hamas draws inspiration from the terrorist activity of the Iranian regime, and like it, aspires to attack Israeli, Jewish and Western targets at any price.

The press release even has an attached organisational diagram (in Hebrew even though the press release is in English) of KHamas' foreign terrorist organisation, claiming to name "terrorists" in Sweden, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands.

There have been a mass exodus from Ecuador in recent years, despite that the country is under no economic sanctions war and has been ruled by consecutive "democratic" neoliberal governments (according to Western regimes).

Ecuadorian press outlets and their reporters operate in fear. People wont even want to report online using their own identities. Coupled with the government's exceptional measures, it will become very difficult to know what's happening.

Statement from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, January 9th:

The occupation falling into ambushes of death and explosive tunnels is an important indicator of its sinking in the mire of Gaza. Gaza has become an explosive minefield, harvesting more leaders, officers, and soldiers of the occupation.

The escalation of strikes of the resistance against the zionist forces entrenched in various areas of the Gaza Strip confirm that the Strip has become entirely an explosive minefield, harvesting more leaders, officers, and soldiers of the occupation, and a graveyard for its vehicles and armored vehicles.

The enemy’s admission of the killing and wounding of dozens of soldiers in the last hours by falling into resistance ambushes, explosive tunnels, sniper fire, mortar shells, and explosive devices in the ongoing battles in the central and southern Gaza Strip, and the continuation of the resistance in striking the zionist depth with rockets after more than 90 days is an important indicator that the occupation is sinking in the mire of Gaza, and that the resistance is imposing itself in the field, owning bases of control and command, and an element of surprise and ambush for the occupation soldiers.

The resistance, with its qualitative operations, succeeded in shattering the zionist deterrence force and breaking the overwhelming qualitative superiority of the zionist army in terms of weapons, equipment, and forces, through engaging in a long attrition battle and guerrilla warfare, in addition to its success in psychological and media warfare, all of which have resulted in this significant field achievement and the blatant zionist failure.

The occupation’s announcement of the death of a zionist commander in the Givati Brigade from a heart attack after watching his colleagues being killed one after the other by the Palestinian resistance reflects the reality in the Gaza Strip and what the occupation soldiers are subjected to from painful and quality strikes and from continuous unprecedented exhaustion. This enemy will find in Gaza nothing but hell, death, and destruction, and will inevitably retreat defeated and humiliated from the Gaza Strip, dragging the tails of disappointment and defeat without achieving any of its goals or the ability to rebuild its crumbling and collapsing deterrence force forever.

NATO Claims Western Strikes on Yemen Are Defensive

According to White, Iran has a "special responsibility" in controlling its proxy forces, the Houthis.

On Friday, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) asserted that the bombings by the United States and the United Kingdom in Yemen have a "defensive" nature.

"These attacks were defensive and were designed to preserve freedom of navigation in one of the world's most important waterways," NATO spokesperson Dylan White stated.

He added that Houthi forces receive support, supplies, and equipment from Iran, and he considered Tehran to have a "special responsibility in controlling its proxy forces."

"In recent months, we have seen Houthi forces attempt dozens of attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea. These attacks pose a direct threat to maritime security and international trade," White stated, adding that the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) "condemned them."

On Thursday night, President Joe Biden confirmed that U.S. military forces conducted attacks on various targets in Yemen with the support of the United Kingdom and other countries.

He argued that this action was in response to Houthi launching a ballistic missile to target Gulf of Aden shipping routes, a strategic passage for transporting oil from the Persian Gulf.

The U.S. the United Kingdom, Australia, Bahrain, Canada, the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, New Zealand, and South Korea issued a joint statement emphasizing that the action was taken in defense of international trade and those traversing the Red Sea.

God Damn America

And Damn it some more

And some more, the most relevant one

We have sponsored state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant! Because the stuff we have done overseas, is coming to our own front yards! America's chickens ... are coming home to roost.

Anyone heard any updates about Israel's defence at the ICJ? I know they planned to show some video from October 7, but the court denied them the opportunity to do so as it's irrelevant.
