Listen, if the Oscars had ever been good, Ninja 3: The Domination would have won one for coolest shit ever put to film but it didn't and the Oscars don't even have that award so fuck em

my stepdad asked me to go golfing with him and his friends, and i basically did all of this, so now i don't get invited anymore.

Good job killing two dozen cops rat-salute-2

[-] CthulhusIntern@hexbear.net 5 points 9 months ago

How'd you survive getting shot repeatedly by shotguns and machine guns?

[-] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 3 points 9 months ago

it's a breathing technique called Strengthpower. that's like one of the first things they teach you at the Butch Jenkins School of Ninjas-Sanford campus. right after Golf Ball Crush and Helicopter Takedowns.

I wish someone made a movie that's basically just 90 minutes of this. Just some dude cheesily dispatching ever-increasingly militarized cops for an hour and a half until they're sending fighter jets after him and at the end he parries a nuke and fights the president in martial combat

You could just play Metal Gear Rising, it's 75% of the way there.

I know, it rules. One of my fave games of all time.

[-] buckykat@hexbear.net 6 points 9 months ago

That would be the best possible movie

[-] WithoutFurtherBelay@hexbear.net 5 points 9 months ago

This is literally a planned arc in my webcomic

[-] the_post_of_tom_joad@hexbear.net 7 points 9 months ago

Also, terrible choices to make this point. Literally the best 3 performances of the year 😭. Like you will never convince me Margot Robbie deserves the nom more than Lily Gladstone wtdlf.

Wow if only Barbie had an actual plot, people would have liked it? Who knew?

[-] WithoutFurtherBelay@hexbear.net 6 points 9 months ago

It did though?

[-] DanComrd@hexbear.net 3 points 9 months ago

Have you watched the movie?

[-] Llituro@hexbear.net 16 points 9 months ago

The defenestration of Hollywood has a nice ring to it.

[-] emizeko@hexbear.net 11 points 9 months ago

death to america

[-] hollowmines@hexbear.net 8 points 9 months ago

Poor Things and Barbie already have the same plot.

[-] Sinistar@hexbear.net 6 points 9 months ago

Somehow, I don't think "replace the Barbie movie's really unique plot with something we've all seen before" would have improved the film.

[-] hexaflexagonbear@hexbear.net 9 points 9 months ago

I mean it has a best picture and best adapted screenplay nomination. This is literally re: Margot Robbie not getting the best actress nod. And yeah, if this was Poor Things, Anatomy of a Fall, or Killers of the Flower Moon, there may be more room for Robbie to earn the nomination. But on the other hand I just don't think she's as good an actress as the leads in those.

[-] Hexbear2@hexbear.net 4 points 9 months ago

Generic Barbie was kind of boring as a character, blame the writers, Gerwig, whatever, but Ken and Weird Barbie, and hell, even Alan, had better arcs than barbie.

[-] Cromalin@hexbear.net 3 points 9 months ago

what's she even trying to say with this? mollie burkhart should have been abused and almost killed by her husband in a more empowering way, and then she wouldn't be mad about lily gladstone getting the (well deserved) nomination?
