Maybe because it's a basic game at best, and within a free "testing" weekend, you can become bored of it. Or maybe because it's also a $70 "AAAA" game.

That's what happen with OpenSource-community software: if you don't have shareholders to make happy, the only one you (as developer) have to make happy are the actual users.
