I gave up waiting and just bought one of those mini PCs. Way more bang for buck but they're not cheap either.

Same. Everywhere i looked was upwards of 150-175, every time i looked. Fucking things were pushing 300 by some resellers even. I found a lot of 5 used Optiplexes, for just over 100 bucks or so on the bay. Gigabit ethernet, modernish celeron chips, and more. Theyre faster than a pi5, only lack some hardware encoding/decoding. Even run x64. One is a low budget seedbox, one is my klipper box for my 3d printer, one is a pi-hole/fail2ban server, one is used for most of my SDR dongles/ rf antenna, and the last one sits unused as of now.

I dont do anything with GPIO pins really, so the loss of those was NBD. If i come across something like they ill use an arduino.

This is some quality shitposting right here folks. If you're gonna do it (and you should) this is the way to do it

i had pie on pi day. I have a Raspberry Pi that I got a few years ago, but because I have servers with good hardware I don't use it much.
