Every once in a while I get curious about the wider fediverse, so I'll go poke around a bit to see how it is going outside of the hexbear adjacent instances.

Well it's pretty bad out there folks. I peeked at kbin.social which was a mistake. They have some 'boost' option which I know nothing about, but just the idea of it sounds bad. There's like some sort of small business marketing comm that looked like total trash.

There's just so much selfawarewolves :liberalism: all over the place. It really seems like a lot of the instances with lax moderation and many new post-redditors are doomed.

I really appreciate all the efforts and labor put into keeping hexbear special.

I get drips and drabs of what the greater lemmy is like from the dunk tank and the libs that come in here to start shit and I have 1,0000% no desire to engage with these cretins, ever.

Most everyone I've interacted with on your instance has been pretty cool. I think the overlap of startrek fans and decentralized social media enthusiasts is probably a damn good filter.
