Netanyahu has a plan.

Genocide.

Imagine Trump Secretary of State Mike Pompeo ever saying something like this. You can't.

Which is why Trump would be worse for the people of Palestine.

[-] ME5SENGER_24@lemmy.world 10 points 7 months ago

Trump would not only allow the total destruction of Gaza and Palestine, but he’d even build a golf course directly on the strip

We should stop selling him weapons and having his back at the UN.

[-] Eldritch@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago

Realistically we should stop funding them in general. But it's become a great way for congressmen to get an unofficial pay bump. They vote to send money etc to Israel. Then Israel uses that money to "lobby" them.

[-] lennybird@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago

Nuts how much money Israel is spending on smear campaigns for Democrats, especially progressive ones.

Ok. China and Russia should also stop doing that.

China and Russia are trying to gain favor just in case the US stops supporting Israel.

What the FUCK

There's a lot of useful nuance in that Guardian article; it's not exactly that simple

But also:

The Israeli prime minister said ... "I told him that I hope we would do [Rafah] with US support but if necessary – we will do it alone."

Promise? Because that sounds like a good step.

The US upholding its nominal commitment to international justice and hauling the appropriate leaders to The Hague sounds better, but Israel doing it alone if atrocity is this big a core value for them sounds like, at least, a step in the right direction.

has the US considered.....not funding them?

Where is the Arab League to step up and help form a technocratic government? The strip will be demilitarized, the Israelis can't be the ones doing that security though so where is Saudi or UAE et al helping out their brothers?

[-] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

The Israelis have to agree to a 2 state solution. Pretty sure that Saudi, Egypt, Jordan and the US have this plan worked out.

[-] S_204@lemm.ee 0 points 7 months ago

Bibi needs to go. Israelis want a two state, the bigoted assholes running the place are the problem. The issue was worked out before he had his grip, it's a shame it couldn't have been met with openness by the Arabs at that time. Timing is everything, getting these groups synched is nearly impossible.
