These "compressed towel tablets" are about 2cm across in diameter, and not pill sized as this picture implies, and are closer to wet wipes than actual, fluffy towels.

Still useful cleaning at music festivals though.

2cm has to be too small. Surely they wouldn't be useful that way

[-] ReveredOxygen@sh.itjust.works 9 points 7 months ago

I believe they're saying the pills are 2cm. It would be bigger once expanded

[-] clubb@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

Ah, that went right over my head

[-] nave@lemmy.ca 84 points 7 months ago

What does capitalism have to do with this?

There's a frood who really knows where his towel is.

[-] Cassa@lemmy.blahaj.zone 25 points 7 months ago

Disposable towels? Single use compressed Towels?

the endless focus on consumption with no reuse, the usage of resources?

[-] nave@lemmy.ca 21 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

It’s for hikers who need to be careful about how much weight they carry. They can also be used like wet wipes.

[-] Transporter_Room_3@startrek.website 18 points 7 months ago

Skill issue, tbh.. If you can't afford the extra grams for two small towels, then you need to get a little bit more stamina.

[-] tyler@programming.dev 11 points 7 months ago

I used these things in my edc kit. It’s not about the weight, it’s about the space, and they’re really only ever used in emergencies. I wouldn’t say they’re a good product though.

[-] KISSmyOSFeddit@lemmy.world 12 points 7 months ago

Needlessly using disposable stuff for hiking is like driving a coal-rolling Diesel truck into the mountains to enjoy the pristine nature.

[-] ElectroLisa@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 7 months ago

Weight or volume? Technically a compressed object weighs the same as uncompressed, ex. a sheet of paper

[-] KISSmyOSFeddit@lemmy.world 9 points 7 months ago

Name one communist country that has towel pills.

They didn't understand, saw an inaccurate meme, and wanted to bitch over a use case they don't understand. I'm not sure what do complicated about the modern lemmy lurker.

[-] SparrowRanjitScaur@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago

What does this have to do with capitalism?

[-] Num10ck@lemmy.world 8 points 7 months ago

if you have to put then in water to expand then what if you want a dry towel?

[-] DrDominate@lemmy.world 15 points 7 months ago

Well if you're trying to dry off then you wouldn't put the towel in water first, you'd start drying off with the little tablet and by the end it'll be a full, wet towel.

[-] Daxter101@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 7 months ago

I didn't think of that lol

That's cool

[-] papalonian@lemmy.world 5 points 7 months ago

You've packed the wrong towel

[-] strawberry@kbin.run 1 points 7 months ago

I mean you can wipe up a spill with a damp cloth, and it even works better than a dry cloth often

[-] Psythik@lemmy.world 7 points 7 months ago

Is this how cottonmouth happens?
