I hope he doesn't get memed to president again. 4 years was bad enough.
Late night television comedians like Seth Meyers were at their best during the Trump era imo. The content practically writes itself.
I'm of a different opinion. This fuck face did so much ridiculous shit that it ruined parody.
Despite the constant negative press covfefe
He stood in the middle of fifth avenue and shot satire dead. It's, like, incredible.
And as we all know that's a valid reason to vote
Nothing drives voter turnout on both sides like him - and there are a lot more voters that hate him than not.
Sometimes the Fediverse is awesome!
In fairness, this is a pretty unique situation. How many other times have you seen ex-president mugshots?
That's actually what annoys me the most. That stupid fucking face is going to be a famous image. It'll be in text books for decades.
It'll be in text books for decades.
Not if you're in "Some Blacks benefited from slavery" Florida ๐ญ
It will be. But framed as heroic.
Jesus fuck is that actually taught in schools?
It's going to be the next Che Guevera shirt
I doubt a president getting arrested is that big of a history compared to abolishing slavery or a war.
It will be a footnote, or a quiz question for sure. But nothing more.
Uh huh, just like how people forgot Nixon and his peace signs.
No pictures of that were in any textbooks I had. Things that paint the US in a negative light tend to be glossed over in US schools - at least, they were when I was in it ages ago. Can't imagine that's changed much.
Bruh, I'm pretty sure your textbooks covered Watergate, assuming you went to school after it.
Now, maybe your school and/or teacher sucked and tried to cram it into their one hour coverage of Vietnam, but it was in there, I promise.
(Unless you went to a religious school, then I'll believe any claim you make but note that it isn't typical)
I said that picture wasn't in there, and "glossed over" doesn't mean there was no negativity at all. Yes, Watergate was mentioned.
what even is the origin of this ๐ญ
Trump got his mugshot taken today at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, Georgia. This is his (fourth?) indictment, but the first one where he had to have a mugshot taken. His bond is $200000 USD.
Fulton County Jail mugshot. Trump and 18 (?) other people have been charged in Georgia for attempting to change the 2020 election results there. Last night he had to turn himself in and post bail.
I'm just as much out of the loop as you, but I think a lot of people around Trump had to have Mugshots taken of them as part of a procedure surrounding ??? and that's where my half knowledge ends ^^
They're being charged with crimes. That's why they are having mugshots taken and going to court.
Am not American and seeing that psychopathic looking face everywhere made browsing lemmy shit. Bro , am here for memes and tech news. Like, it was kinda entertaining watching the American political shitshow but the joke joke of "orange man with red eyes and funny psychopathic look" got old pretty quick.
If you use Sync or Connect you can hide posts containing political keywords
I don't use them but i'll definitely see if any of the lemmy apps i use have keyword based filter. Can i copy and possibly share your filter list ? (maybe I'd share it in a post ) IMO, it should be add by default to lemmy apps so people who don't care about American politics can block them outright.
Yeah ofc. I don't think I can export it so here are screenshots of the rest
Thank you so much.
Connect for lemmy and eternity both have keyword based filtering .
If anyone is interested, here's the list in text format (i didn't use some keyword to minimize collateral damage on actual world news posts that may be interesting ) :
gop, jan, maga, representatives, congress, biden, trump, desantis, far right, alt-right, democrat, democrats, republican, republicans
Again, thank you.
I've added the word 'trump' to my sync post filter
But now how will you see my post called "This is my final trump card" that I was going to post tomorrow? ๐
You'll have to use a euphemism
"and i wouldve gotten away with it, if it wasnt for you pesky DA's!"
Jury's still out (literally) on whether or not he got away with it.
Yall should use his name so this annoying shit can be properly blocked
Facebook too
