ahh yes, the regular posting snipers against a group way of crowd control and damage mitigation

as we all know, the line between 'protest' and 'more than protest' is extremely clearly defined. you would be silly to be concerned over the sights trained on you. just don't do anything more than protest, silly!

I remember an incident in Kenosha were a group of armed black people saw shadowy figure on a building pointing rifles at them. One guy turned on his weapon light to ID them; It was cops, he got sent up for aiming a gun at the cops.

Remember folks, police snipers at football games and political protests is normal and good. The real authoritarian dystopia is when China installs CCTV on streets to deter crime.

But but but my privacy and freedom!

Just ignore the devices I have that track my every move and sell my data to the government and corpos to sell me things! That's freedom!

In authoritarian china, the government and police don't even subsidize riing cameras

This is the same guy who will ask you unironically if you’d rather have freedom over security. Bitch you’re completely okay with being taken out by a swat sniper shut up.

At protest they're usually there to help organize kettling and other such big police movements, rather than protecting the protesters. Spotting is the majority of their job.

Word. A sniper's job is to gather intelligence and perform recon. Modern snipers aren't the front-line snipers of the Red Army during the War. Yes, they've got a rifle, but attached to that rifle is a really, really big telescope.

I've mostly seen them use choppers for kettling, not snipers.

But I guess it maybe depends on terrain and movement.

[-] JohnBrownNote@hexbear.net 9 points 4 months ago

do people still have laser pointers?

[-] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 53 points 4 months ago

Guys, the roided up thumb behind the rifle would never think to actually shoot someone

Unless they do, in which case they probably had it coming

[-] Sasuke@hexbear.net 48 points 4 months ago

freedom is when you have a gun pointed at you at all time. the more guns pointed at you, the free-er and safer you are

[-] FuckyWucky@hexbear.net 48 points 4 months ago

It's not normal in most countries but very normal in America.

[-] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 43 points 4 months ago

maybe-later-honey Hey it's normalized now so chill ya? Maybe you can change the law when you never get into power.

"they're there to stop anybody who tries to do more than protest"

citizen, remain in your designated free speech zone or we will open fire

[-] Barabas@hexbear.net 23 points 4 months ago

Remember when they were trying to argue that they didn’t have any rifles and that the stupid leftists were just overreacting when this started being reported.

Now it is just completely normal to have a lethal weapon trained on you at all times while other police brutalise protestors. It means that you’re safer.

Brainwashed Chinese citizens think the regime snipers are deployed to protests to protect citizens
