I'm a little over a year in running full-time linux on my desktop.
No deal breakers in KDE. In fact it's only gotten better, and it does some things built-in that gnome doesn't, like per-monitor wallpaper slideshows.

My favourite part is that you don't have to install poorly maintained extensions and extension managers just to change things to your liking.
this has to be a joke, i just tinkered with it for a couple weeks to check in and most of the extensions i tried either just broke things or didn't work at all.
WOULD YOU PLEASE TELL US YOUR SPECIFIC ISSUE WITH KDE? JUST REPEATING THE WORD "JANKY" OVER AND OVER IS NOT DESCRIPTIVE. TELL US WHAT'S WRONG.
I mean sure, general feeling of weird bugs here and there. I have those too. But nothing that really bothers me that much.
fam it's a shitpost not a bug report or support request. calm down. it's just generally janky, random shit breaks without any apparent rhyme or reason to it and there's no apparent way to fix it aside from breaking everything else i use by switching to wayland.
Overrated, I get
But janky? While it isn't my DE most of the time, I've never had any issues.
What kind of jank is going on that I'm missing, so I don't use it where said jank would shank my flank.
It's been a long time since I last tried KDE but I never had luck with it. As much of a pain as it is to get working the way I wanted with extensions, once I got the setup I want GNOME is a thing of true performance and efficiency beauty.
I've been using Kde for about 3 years now and to be fair, do have some issues from time to time.
Most annoying has to be that when I try to launch discord for example, I type "discor" and press enter immediately. But it hasn't really registered the "r" yet so it launches discover instead. But I just learned to wait a bit after typing.
Kde also had some crashes, although very rarely. So nothing I really care about.
I use plasma because it themes gtk better than a gtk de themes qt, on debian stable because I want a stable system. few weeks ago gtk theming broke. now all my gtk apps are stuck in blinding light mode
really? everything always acts weird and breaks on me, every time I've used it for 10+ years. it's gorgeous but unusable in my book, and has been for a long time. it's disappointing really, checking to see if KDE doesn't suck yet and then sticking with it for a month plus because i really want it to work has practically become a form of self-harm for me. i always ditch it because the jank is un-ignorable no matter how hard i try.
what's the jank?
let's be real here, what about plasma isn't janky? for 10+ years every time i try it nearly every part of the UI is bugged in some way, no way in hell all of you never have issues.
let's be real here, what about your posting isn't janky? for 10+ minutes every time I read it nearly every part of the post is jank in some way, no way in hell will you explain what's janky.
i take pride in my jank, and am up front about the generally poor quality of my user experience.
Hi Nvidia user.
I have Wayland/KDE Plasma on a laptop w/ Nvidia 3050 (bought the laptop before getting fed up of windows).
I haven't had any issues in daily driving for a month or so now
A little experimental Linux memes community. We'll see how this works out!
