I tried to find out why kitchen tubs and showers might be a thing (back when some were first posted here) and read an article about how ages ago in new york, landlords were required by law to provide baths for tenants. So they just stuck them where there was already a water hookup. So, in old apartments in New York, you'll occasionally run into a kitchen tub.

So far that new knowledge has been completely irrelevant to the kitchen/bath situations posted here, but maybe someday it will be useful that I know that now and I won't be left assuming a fetish situation.

Idk man, dishwasher, hotplate, a shower, and your own space for 400ish dollars a month? Seems kind of worth it. My first apartment was 750 a month.

That looks more like a mini fridge than a dishwasher

Oh you're right, ok, less good lol, didn't think about the lack of food fridge lol

I'd say a dishwasher is very much an optional/luxury appliance. I didn't have a dishwasher until very recently, and still find myself cleaning by hand quite frequently (it's quicker).

Personally, due to my ADHD and executive dysfunction, a dishwasher significantly helps the cleanliness of my kitchen, for me it isn't a luxury lol, but if I have very few dishes I suppose that would be less of a problem

You don’t know the location. If you’re spending another 400 monthly and 2-3 hours daily on commuting, this might be not that great a deal.

Wherever this is in France, unless village but who would have that to rent in a village, it's really competitive as well

You can have a bath and wash the plates, it's a win win /s

The grind spirit

That looks like a place that never had water running to it, and they retrofitted a small apartment and ran all the water and sewage into the most convenient corner. Honestly, I'm more confused about where the toilet is ...

More like out the window lol

It's in the shower stall, behind the little door in that empty space next to the counter.

[-] poppy@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Might be a community toilet. Sometimes apartments have private baths or showers but shared toilets.

Meh, if this is in or close to a large metro area it might be a steal.

[-] downpunxx@kbin.social 6 points 1 year ago

380 euro a month? a pittance, this is a steal

Reminds me of where someone I knew was living with her ex when we met... there was a shower in the carpeted kitchen/living room.

[-] Wats0ns@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 year ago

Just roll on the floor and you're dry, seems practical to me

[-] admiralteal@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

Carpeted bathroom is a thing, Some people really swear by it.

But taking a shit on the living room toilet? That's a real power play from a host.

Carpeted bathroom is a thing, Some people really swear by it.

My grandparents had a carpeted bathroom - the idea was it kept your feet warmer than bare floor but that only works until the carpet is wet and cold.

But taking a shit on the living room toilet? That’s a real power play from a host.

Shitting in the living room when there isn't a toilet is the ultimate power move. My brother's best friend once crapped on our coffee table.

I lived somewhere with carpet in the bathroom and kitchen. Seems horrible to me as it’s so much difficult to clean. The bathroom was annoying because we had one roommate who would literally shower 6 times a day and somehow get the carpet soaking wet… would have been a lot easier to dry off tile.

I paid a room like this one when I was a student, but with shared toilets with 3 others, and it was 475€ near La Motte Piquet. Also, it was 18 years ago.

This one's a steal.
