If came here sorting by hot: This is a 9 months old thread.

nice catch. why is this a "hot" post?

[-] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 4 points 1 year ago

Have not idea how the "hot" sort algorithm works, but it keeps sending really old post to the top. I already learned to keep an eye on the post date, this is not even the oldest one I have seen.

Since the reddshit invasion lemmy is really borking itself, for me it works so bad that i'm not even sure if this comment will register, or maybe it will register 3 times.

Ey it's OP! How does it feel with all the reddit refugees coming in to your land and downvoting your 9mo post? If I feel like a veteran with my 2 weeks ago, its must be cool to have a really mathusalian account.

Something like this:

This is based on a creative translation of the following sentence. It goes by pretty fast, so it's easy to just notice that it has "preemptive strikes" in it. Does it even make any sense as a thought in English?

We need to launch preemptive strikes so that they know what will happen to them if they use it, and not vice versa.

NATO needs to nuke Russia so Russia will know what happens if Russia uses nukes? That's not even a coherent thought for someone who clearly has a decent grasp of international politics to express. So that leaves the other possibility, that the translator is deliberately fucking with the translation. Which is, of course, exactly what happened.

If that is a creative translation then offer a better one. That newsweek article is pure cope in way too many words, and they don't even do it, they just scream "nuance" and "context" all the time. I guess it's hard thing to do when he was absolutely straight.

He just fucked up and instead of admitting he been blabbering when high and apologizing now entire collective liberalism is trying to make an excuse.

I spent ten seconds looking this up and it's bullshit. The captions don't match what he's saying, he doesn't mention nuclear weapons at all.
