Well, there were these two old guys arguing about golf on TV. Can’t say that did wonders for me.
I thankfully didn't have enough weed or alcohol available to me to make it that deep into the debate, and to be frank, I'm glad I missed this bit. How infuriatingly stupid.
I was gonna watch the whole thing but like 30 minutes in I realized it was justvoje lying bastard and a guy who didnt know what he was saying
The only way it could have been whiter is if they started arguing about how spicy ketchup is, lol.
After the fucking Presidential debate last night, I'm scared as living fuck that I'll be living in a fascist dictatorship by January 7th, 2025.
That fear was compounded with the death of the Chevron ruling by the Supreme Court this morning. US administrative state is basically DOA.
They're out here doing Project 2025 right the fuck now. It's not a conspiracy, it's fucking happening right now.
Honestly, I'll say it, if you're not scared shitless by all this at this point, you're naive, no matter if you're a US citizen or not. The world's largest military being controlled by fascists is a bad deal for the whole planet.
Well recently the news in France had the same effect for me. The fascists won the European election, then our president dissolved the National Assembly. And the fascists just seems to be more and more popular recently...
Most every day this week, I'm scared that I'm not going to be able to accomplish all that I want and should.
I'm scared of letting down the people I care about most.
I'm scared that I'm not going to be strong enough when life throws really brutal curve balls at me.
You're stronger than you think. God speed, friend.
Thanks, and right back at you.
Last week, my five-year-old hit some litter at full speed and flipped over the handlebars of his scooter.
Went hiking and one of my buddies collapsed from heat exhaustion. Had to call a heli.
Before that, when Trump was elected and all the outcomes that came afterwards like roe v wade, school shootings, attacks on racial minorities, oh yeah and denial of covid 19 and vaccines.
Edit: I can probably list more but I would have to keep on editing this post so ima stop it at that.
I thought there was a cockroach running at me on my bed.
Was just a trick of the light.
Omg this happened to me last year in my old shitty apartment, but it was real. Somehow a massive roach ended up on top of my comforter. I had serious trouble sleeping for a while after that, and I was seeing tricky shadows for weeks…
The whole neighborhood had a roach problem, it wasn’t any particular grossness on my part. The general consensus amongst my neighbors at the time was that the nearby restaurants were to blame, but you can be sure I did a deep cleaning after that episode…so glad I don’t live there anymore.
I mean, if it was continual, it sounds like it's actually the landlord skipping out on their pest control duties. That shit's illegal.
this happens to me so often, but I can't remember the last time I actually saw a real cockroach.
I had a giant spider dangling down behind the curtains. Also a light trick, but damn ...
2018 - Having a heart attack and being told I need open heart surgery.
Nothing has scared me since then.
I fear if I get fired I won't be able to sustain myself.
Last night when I was playing pool this guy a bit bigger than me was super trashed and out of nowhere started threatening me but I talked him down and then funny enough he came back up to me later and apologized and gave me a hug lol
About 6 years ago I somehow (Safety, Maintenance, and Engineering departments never figured out how) managed to get stuck in a robot cage with 4 water jet cutting robots. I have never been more terrified in my life.
One of my coworkers said he had never seen anyone move as fast as when I yanked the safety rip line to kill the machine. Didn’t get hurt, thank god, but found out that adrenaline makes me giddy. Every thing was flipping hilarious for a few hours after they got me out of the cage.
That is not the adrenaline, that is the endorphin rush, your brain is rewarding you for surviving.
good monkey, here imaginary banana
Jesus, that's something out of a horror movie.
Holy shit, that's from Cube ! but worse ! as if Cube had a baby with Saw !
I often have nightmares (yay PTSD!), the last bad one I had was about a week ago. It was about my sister being scared and me not being able to get in contact with her or help her. My husband woke me up 3 different times from that one because I’d keep yelling in my sleep, which happens at least a couple of times a month and sometimes a few times a week.
I’ve been in therapy and am on meds, there’s just not a magic bullet unfortunately.
A week or two ago, because of other drivers doing stupid and dangerous things.
I had a nightmare where a gory monster was in my attic, and got scared when I saw it.
I teamed up with my family and we dissected it after killing it :D
Nice, reminds me of The Thing
Two months ago the lymph node under my left collar bone got very inflamed. I went to the doctor who ordered an ultrasound and chest x-ray. The ultrasound was, "worrying" so they ordered a CT. The CT suggested that my lymph nodes had gone bad. I spent the last two months afraid that I was going to leave my kids unsupported as one was finishing her first year of university and the other his first year of high school. A couple of days ago I got the best possible news under the circumstances that I have Hodgkins Lymphoma which is curable and I am expected to go on and live a long life.
When my heart stopped beating in the middle of the night.
Luckily, the human body has mechanisms to force start a heart again. Not funny, though, 0/10, don't recommend.
good on you for engaging the emergency heart
I work on very large (30+ tons) custom mining equipment that rotates side to side. One of the machines had its center of gravity above the axis of rotation. On it passing a certain point, the machine started rotating down on its own and almost smashed into the ground next to us. The spring applied brakes engaged and stopped it about 10in of the ground! If it had hit the ground, a multimillion dollar, one of a kind piece of equipment would have been ruined!
A cheap, faulty lightbulb hissed, arced, and then flew out of the socket. I really do need to get better lightbulbs...
Last week my kid's mare got spooked by a plastic bag while said kid was riding her. They never flinched and everything was under control in a few seconds but you bet I was unable to breath while watching from afar.
Last year suffered a severe shoulder dislocation that lasted ~2.5hrs, while in the middle of nowhere. It was unimaginably painful and I struggled to believe it would ever be over. The ambulance took so long to arrive.
But the real fear came in the following days, weeks, months. Knowing that it could happen again at any moment without warning, even from the simplest movement with no strain at all. When the severe one happened I wasn't doing anything unusual, I just reached out to pick something up and pop. My damaged muscles were in such a state that it could pop out with no real cause.
Nowadays I'm doing much better. I've had a surgery to fix it, with 90% success rate. But that 10% risk still keeps me up at nightbsometimes.
Had a zombie apocalypse nightmare last night for i think the second time this year, wake up scared even though i recognize it's a dream inside the dream. I know i shouldn't play Project Zomboid if dream like this keep coming back, but ehh what the heck, game's good.
I didn't give myself enough rope to stand up properly and had to precariously balance while securing myself about 6 meters (20 ft) up in a tree. I was secured once but would have hurt myself a lot if i fell, so yeh that's why i was scared for a second two days ago.
