I stand by no episode in Code Geass being important
It was fine, there are way worse episodes that are "important" (most of S2).
I haven't seen code geass in ages and i don't remember this episode but I'm fine with 'chill' episodes; it doesn't all have to be intense action or plot building, sometimes it's fun to see the characters just chilling and having a fun time.
I’d argue it helps build the plot
