i just use them for fun things. i've never "written a short description of myself", just put something that makes you giggle
I revert to humour as well. This is why I was saying in some way it's representative of me. As comedy is a part of my life.
your bio is much better than mine though. it's humourous, but also actually descriptive - mine's just a link to my site and other lemmy acct.
I didn't know you could put gifs in your bio!
they're actually png's, but either should work - it's just markdown, so use ![alt text](image url)
. i use them as links as well, so they're [![alt text](image url)](link url)
, which is a bit verbose but it works
they're hosted off-site though, which may be why they work
Cheers. I also didn't know you could get animated PNGs. Every day's a school day.
I tried to put that first one in mine and it came up as a playable video.
I managed to put one in my bio after following the instructions by @Zeus@lemm.ee.
ayyy, i'm a social media influencer
Oh wow, it's Zeus from that thread! Such a privilege to meet you.
Didn't even notice the bio bit... There we go added something now.
I hate writing about myself. I do, however, like using different avatars on different sites. The common sense thing to do would be to use the same avatar on different sites so people know it's you (my Mastodon one is very similar to my Twitter one so migrating people will hopefully recognise me). Especially on the Fediverse where I have a Mastodon, Bookwyrm, Kbin and Lemmy account, all with different avatars and usernames. My bio tells you about my other accounts! Or at least it tells you about some of them. This one (well, you can check it yourself) has some meta text about my avatars, my Lemmy one just describes the avatar, and on Mastodon it's "rescuing princesses since tea-time". Something I thought of for Twitter many years ago. I changed it there eventually, but decided to resurrect it.
I tend to close one social media account when opening another elsewhere. So my huge fanbase can't follow me. Every place has a different avatar and bio, but all are pretty silly.
A casual place for banter and anything that doesn't fit in anywhere else.
Have chat and a natter. Talk about anything and everything.
Keep it casual.
