"I don't hide from that. I was certainly skeptical of Donald Trump in 2016, but President Trump was a great president and he changed my mind. I think he changed the minds of a lot of Americans," Vance told Fox's Sean Hannity in a friendly interview

Translation: I was against him before I was for him, now that I'll be the number 2!

“I was against him before I decided to run for office and realized I had to be MAGA to win”

"I didn't realize the Christofascists forming our voting base were all dimwits who are so racist they would follow a lifelong con man promising to build a wall against immigration. Now I do."

Better to be Himmler than a political prisoner.

Right up until the house of cards topples over, the country is in shambles and people start seeking justice, of course.

I thought that would be considered a compliment in MAGA circles.

Not out loud. Sometimes (but increasingly frequent) the quiet part slips out, but they're still kinda-I-guess maintaining an ostensible veneer of constructive and pro-American values.

So you'll see the evil shit that makes them cheer, followed immediately by "he didn't mean it like that" "he was just joking" "buttery males!" "Sure a few trans people might get the shit beat out of them / killed, but it's for the greater good of keeping our bathrooms secure!"

God I hate this child. Policies aside I fucking hate politicians that lie about their backgrounds for clout. Like all I hear about his book is how it describes growing up poor in a small rural town. The place he lived in as a child has a population around 50k now and, best I can find, also did when he was born. It's like half way between Dayton and Cincinnati in their suburban area so it's not even rural.

And Bernie Moreno who's running for the other Senate seat in Ohio this year is trying to pull the same shit. This dudes parents emigrated to Florida but his dad was a doctor and his mother ended up buying a 4 bedroom house using money from her parents shortly after they moved to the US. Like bro you didn't grow up poor.

Yeah I grew up around that region and you're absolutely right it's halfway between suburban and rural. Everyone I know from the area that's read the book says he comes across as a middle class person cosplaying as Appalachian poor.

Answer: He didn't mean it as an insult.
