[-] alexandra_kollontai@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

Get rid of all buttons and make it into a modern phone

Unless you only use it on your own posts.

making 14 bots to downvote all my posts instantly to give other posters a chance gigachad

I have always been of the mind that the downvote button should be an option in a moderator's toolkit. If someone logs in looking to start a fight, we could all downvote their shit while deriding them.

I got banned from the star trek instance for down voting

[-] sleeplessone@lemmy.ml 4 points 3 months ago

I imagine the original reason for removing it is somewhat mitigated now that mods can view votes directly in the UI instead of needing to muck around in the database.

Ugh, really? That doesn't seem right. I knew admins could, but it really doesn't feel like something mods should be able to see unless everyone gets to see any given user's upvote history.

From a technical point of view, given how federation via ActivityPub works, anyone can see votes on posts and comments. They "just" have to run an instance that federates.

User vote history wouldn't be as feasible, so your point still stands.

everyone gets to see any given user's upvote history.
