Best one of the three imo, and I liked the first two. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have really good chemistry together. Jokes hit more than they missed, good action too.

Thought it was a nice tribute to all the pre-MCU and Fox superhero films, all that was missing was Ben Affleck's Daredevil (Though they do reference him at least). Cool that the Deadpool Corp appear too finally.

All-in-all: Fun movie, 8/10

The daredevil joke was funny.

I enjoyed the movie. Most capeshit is just tired now, but this was an entertaining way to spend an hour or two. Plot was stupid, but the jokes and chemistry was good.

I do not think you could have worse casting than

spoilerChanning Tatum as Gambit. But also I'm from South Louisiana so I'm very picky about my cajun accents. His was bad. He did call Deadpool a "couyon", though, which I enjoyed.

[-] pumpchilienthusiast@hexbear.net 19 points 3 months ago

Gambit was awful so it truly was 100% comic accurate.

[-] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 16 points 3 months ago

The entire gag was that there was a Gambit movie in development hell for a while and Tatum was supposed to be the lead

Hence all those jokes about how he felt how he felt like he never even had a chance to do anything

[-] regul@hexbear.net 9 points 3 months ago

Well damn we dodged a bullet then.

[-] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 9 points 3 months ago

Oh yeah, imagine that Cajun talk for two hours

[-] Babs@hexbear.net 10 points 3 months ago

There were jokes in the movie about how bad his accent was.

[-] regul@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago

People make jokes about actual Cajun accents being indecipherable so I couldn't tell whether the joke was that his was bad or that they're generally impossible to understand.

Who was your voice coach, the minions?

Wanted to go see this over the weekend. My kids ended up deciding to see Despicable Me 4: the money grab, so we saw the fucking Minions instead. While watching 40 minutes worth of before-movie garbage, I saw a preview for a Lion King origin film, a Transformers origin film, a Beetlejuice sequel, and one original IP, about a robot who goes feral, which looked kinda interesting. Im fkn tired of origin films, and sequels.

Am I being a boomer by hollering about origin films?

[-] TemutheeChallahmet@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago

From early buzz the Transformers prequel is apparently really good

Watching the "TOP MOVIE TRAILERS OF 2024!!" videos are just depressing, I just scroll through the chapters and usually there's only 1 original I.P. out of the 10+ trailers.

How shredded up was Huge Jackedman?

[-] Guamer@hexbear.net 11 points 3 months ago

He looked good! More natural than in Logan imo.

[-] GVAGUY3@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I still like him most in Xmen 1 because he just looked like a dude that kinda worked out.

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 7 points 3 months ago

I'll probably check it out when it hits torrent sites. I got back into reading marvel recently and I need to watch she-hulk

[-] space_comrade@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

Natural as in not on gear (or less gear at least)? Because I still think the dude is juiced to the gills, he just maybe has a bit more body fat.

[-] pumpchilienthusiast@hexbear.net 2 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I honestly thought his abs were CGI on this they were so unreal

[-] GVAGUY3@hexbear.net 10 points 3 months ago

Did they digitally shrink Hugh Jackman? Short dudes need rep.

There is a very funny moment about Comics accurate Wolverine

I really liked Gambit, it was my favorite part

[-] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago

I agree, it's another example of how getting away from the whole MCU formula is a good thing

Also, I am honestly glad they didn't do as many "Wouldn't it be funny if they did something gaaaaaaaaay?" jokes as I was worried they'd do

I watched it in 4dx and it was the worst movie experience I've had in recent memory if only because the popcorn I had tasted like shit (thanks regal) and the 4d aspect of a superhero movie just basically means getting your shit thrown around every 5 minutes. Literally lost half the bag of popcorn within the first 30 minutes of the film. Could constantly hear the motors of the chairs getting ready to punch me in the back. Ow. Would probably see Twisters in 4dx given the chance though....

Imagine the It's A Bugs Life ride at Walt Disney World (unironically the best ride at Animal Kingdom if you find horrified children funny, like I did as a teenager during our family vacation) or any other 4D theme park ride where the screen has 3D effects (so you wear 3d glasses) and the seats spray water at you, move, and there's flashing lights/fog machines in the show building.

Boom you have the 4DX movie experience that Regal Cinemas has been pushing recently. Twisters apparently was a decent experience (I can't speak on it because I didn't see Twisters in 4DX) where the theater temperature would drop whenever the tornado wind was supposed to be crazy & whatnot, but my sister did and swears it was the best movie experience she's had all year. shrug-outta-hecks

Anyways, for Deadpool I figured why not & tried it but holy shit the seats would violently shake you & punch you in the back anytime Deadpool and Wolverine fought. (edit as soon as I hit 'send' I knew I'd fucked up and referred to NSYNC as Backstreet Boys but fuck it I don't care about some geriatric boy band - sorry Hexbears who are like 35-45). Lost half my popcorn to the goddamn Backstreet Boys scene because of this. Unnecessary. Would probably be a goated experience though for like, a horror movie....

Oof regal cinema. Always had good prices compared to AMC but yeah was generally ass

[-] WhyEssEff@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

yeah I had low expectations coming in. by the end I was wondering if I liked it because it exceeded them or if it was just a decent movie all on its own. probably a mix. fun couple hours if nothing else
