What exactly makes it better than SearxNG?
Everyone here just goes "why should I use this over SearXNG" without realising that such behaviour actively stifles the FOSS community. Don't listen to them OP, you're doing a fantastic job. I'm actually thinking of running it myself in sometime, and I hope you get more people interested in your project to help contribute!
So you are lolcat and spamming the link to 4get.ca? If so, that makes you look a bit uncool.
Good things: unlike DDG or MetaGer, zero tracking. zero ads. Clean. Unlike SearXNG, you’re not using Github (a good move). This might become huge. The fact that it’s not perfect now, doesn’t matter.
Bad things: Obviously it’ll be hard to be better than SearXNG. A donation link is especially bad; ko-fi.com itself can be there, but… In the donation campaign, SearXNG accepted crypto, while you’re only using a Paypal-like thing. That’s not really cool.
I'm not lolcat, but I know him.
Ask them to understand that CloudFlare often blocks Tor users. Providing onion while accepting donations via ko-fi doesn’t make sense b/c ko-fi is behind CF.
Contrary to SearX/SearXNG, you can't select more than one source for your search results. I honestly don't see the point in this case. Just use DDG, unless you don't want to use Yandex/Marginalia/wiby directly? The other sources included are DDG, Brave and Mojeek, but those already respect your privacy.
No, Google's not in there, but then again so what? I've had to disable Google as a source for SearXNG because it was systematically returning garbage results.
With 4get you can set a different source for your web searches, pics and news results, however. That's a good feature.
It's not bad at all, i like the design
Sweet! I'll check it out. DDG has been terrible lately.
