So this is a thing that has happened before and by definition isn’t “defying history”?

Why are they starting the clock at 1836? Does it sound less impressive to say that 2 sitting Vice Presidents have won an election? For that matter, why don’t they start it at 1988 and say no vice president has been elected in 46 years? Is that also not impressive enough?

Typical Kdolf Hitler sycophancy

Honestly it just sounds like a condemnation of her campaign. "Sitting vice presidents rarely win and the one recent time one did it was the former CIA head who failed up his entire career."

Actually that's pretty on point. Both former cops that failed up into the presidency, edit: succeeding the oldest president ever at the time.

I mean, Bush Sr presidency saw the most success USA had since WW2, not only the only war they won since WW2 and still counting and they managed to coup and plunder quarter of the world belonging to their most hated enemies. Which ensured their global hegemony for the next over 3 decades.

So 1 out of the last around 32 elections have had a sitting vice president win the election. How many of those elections had a sitting vice president running on the ticket?

Seems like one of those "this is the first time in history a quarterback has thrown a ball for over 300 yards 3 days after an eclipse" type stats they do for sports.

[-] Gosplan14_the_Third@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago

Nixon 1960 Humphrey 1968 Bush Sr. 1992 Gore 2000 Harris 2024

And a bunch of people that had vice presidents on the ballot because the president died or resigned (so as acting presidents)

[-] invalidusernamelol@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago

Yeah. So they absolutely cooked the stats by ignoring most instances of vice presidents running.

Love blatant disinformation

Well, Al Gore was elected by the Americans who voted, just not by the Supreme Court.

[-] machiabelly@hexbear.net 9 points 1 month ago

Ive been wondering what would have actually changed if gore was elected. Before I was a communist that was my biggest what if moment

[-] DavidGarcia@feddit.nl 12 points 1 month ago

Maybe she can win by calling herself a virtue president
