I love when they compare size to so many of something that it's no longer understandable. "The same size 20 Olympic swimming pools!" Ok, I have no idea how much that is now.

[-] kamenlady@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago

That's still easy to imagine, compared to the volume of 6000 gummy bears.

[-] Paradachshund@lemmy.today 7 points 2 years ago

To be honest with you I'm not really sure how big a single Olympic size swimming pool is either. 😅

[-] kamenlady@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I just fell into a rabbit hole the size of an Olympic Swimming Pool.

Before your comment, i didn't know this was a thing.

TL/DR

  • Length: 50 m (164 ft 1 in)

  • Width: 25 m (82 ft 0 in)

That's the size.

Unfortunately, they come in various depths depending on if there is a diving pit or not. Also some of the larger natatoriums will combine up to three of them side by side so they have more lanes. The standard size is 8 lanes IIRC.

Today I learned. Thank you, stranger!

You are welcome, not a stranger anymore, fellow lemming. ⊂( ̄▽ ̄)⊃

Petition to make Danny DeVito a unit of international standard of measurement.

[-] tiredofsametab@fedia.io 5 points 2 years ago

I'm on the fence, but about a microdevito from agreeing

[-] oo1@lemmings.world 12 points 2 years ago

Magnum dong for scale.

Then where is the skull's huge horn?

[-] chillbo_baggins@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

Whoa 🤔 I'm about a Devito and a half tall! (rounded up) That makes me feel strong!

I could probably lift two Devitos!

[-] Tja@programming.dev 4 points 2 years ago

How much is that in smoots?

[-] Etterra@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

How many Danny DeVito's long is a Boeing 747?

[-] Redderthanmisty@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Somewhere in the ballpark of 50 DeVito's

[-] bkuri@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago

Around tree fitty

[-] cordlesslamp@lemmy.today 3 points 2 years ago

please recommend me your favorite Danny Devito comedy movies and shows.

[-] Monzcarro@feddit.uk 3 points 2 years ago

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

[-] cordlesslamp@lemmy.today 2 points 2 years ago

Thanks, but I have just finished episode 1 and there's not a single sight of Danny DeVito? He's not even listed in the main casts? Is he just a side character or guess star in this show?

[-] Denalduh@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

He joined the show starting season 2 and is in almost every episode from that point forward. If you're seriously just starting Always Sunny, I'm extremely jealous of you. Being able to watch it for the first time is always a wild ride!

[-] cordlesslamp@lemmy.today 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Should I just skip season 1? Do you think it's worth watching?

I'm at episode 3 and honestly I haven't felt it "click" yet. The comedy is based on the main 3 guys being idiots, and that's not the kind of thing I enjoy.

[-] Denalduh@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

He does add a lot to the show, but at the end of the day, the gang acting all stupid is the entire show's shtick.

[-] bitchkat@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I don't know about watching it without having seen all the prior episodes but "The Nightman Cometh" is funniest half hour comedy ever produced.

[-] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 1 points 2 years ago

He doesn't appear until season 2 and it's hilarious. He's in every episode after that.

If I remember right, the way it's depicted in the show is basically how it went in real life. DeVito showed up to the set and was like "let me be part of the gang!" and they were all "okay why not?"

[-] dumbass@leminal.space 2 points 2 years ago

This page has a good list.

[-] frigidaphelion@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

So how many DeVitos wide is the wingspan of quetzalcoatlus?

[-] sanpedropeddler@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 years ago

Well I don't know what that is but my educated guess is 3.5

[-] burgersc12@mander.xyz 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Its closer to 8, Devito is 1.47 m and the wingspan is 11-12 m
