I think they stayed in, and voted. These are mail-in ballots, right?

[-] Easyreever@lemmy.world 22 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Not necessarily, early in-person and mail in is what they are talking about. Someone will correct me if I’m wrong!

[-] cranakis@reddthat.com 19 points 5 days ago

Early, in person voting started today on GA.

[-] Valmond@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Are there some exit polls (I know, I lnow, it's not reliable) ?

[-] WhyDoYouPersist@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

Someone will correct me if I’m wrong!

A true believer in Cominghome's Law.

[-] expr@programming.dev 2 points 5 days ago

I actually tend to drop off my mail ballots at the local library drop box.

[-] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 19 points 5 days ago

No way man.

I’m voting by mail in my underpants.

[-] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 18 points 5 days ago

I'm voting in person in my underpants

[-] TheLowestStone@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago

I will also be voting in person in your underpants.

[-] Roflmasterbigpimp@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

I will be voting you in his underpants!

[-] No_Eponym@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 days ago

[-] FundMECFSResearch@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

I will be voting for his underpants

[-] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 62 points 5 days ago

Glad to see Jimmy got his chance to cast his vote.

[-] tburkhol@lemmy.world 17 points 5 days ago

Does his vote still count if he dies between now and then? One of the infamous "dead people voting."

[-] mosiacmango@lemm.ee 19 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Yes. Georgia has no specific law about this, so by default it will count. I also believe I read they can't find individual peoples votes for privacy reasons, so there is no way to pull it back.

If you can legally vote when voting opens in Georgia and do so, it will count.

[-] someguy3@lemmy.world 11 points 5 days ago

Oh yeah that's today. He made it.

[-] AlligatorBlizzard@sh.itjust.works 26 points 5 days ago

Congrats to Jimmy Carter, he made it!

[-] ikidd@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago

Hopefully he gets to see her win.

[-] IphtashuFitz@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

I’m roughly half his age and I’m hoping to finally see our first female president. I can only imagine how thrilled he’d be to see it happen.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 34 points 5 days ago

"Record number of early votes to go uncounted in forced hand recounts which will not be achievable in the three day deadline."

[-] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 19 points 5 days ago
[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago

Stop what, counting ballots? I believe that is the plan, yes.

[-] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 32 points 5 days ago

Sowing doubt that people's votes would count which could discourage others from voting would be my guess. I know what you said is right though. 🥲

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago

Yep. John Oliver covered it in detail on Sunday. I hate that it's true, but it's true.

[-] Drunemeton@lemmy.world -1 points 5 days ago

Just because you can do a thing, doesn’t mean that you should.

What did you hope to accomplish with your original reply?

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Just because you can do a thing, doesn’t mean that you should.

Sorry... do you think that there won't be hand recounts in Georgia with a maximum of three days to do it, despite the election board specifically saying the exact opposite?

[-] Drunemeton@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago
[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

A very welcome new element in this story, but as I said to someone else, it will get appealed. This is not over.

[-] ikidd@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

And what do you think happens when it hits Georgia Supreme? I think we've seen this show before.

To impart the perception of having a well informed opinion about everything.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

I do not have a "well informed opinion about everything."

I just literally watched the Last Week Tonight episode that discusses this ratfuckery the Republicans are doing in Georgia four days ago.

That doesn't make me well-informed, that makes John Oliver's writers well-informed. And they literally showed clips of election workers complaining to the election board about the hand recount requirement.

I have no idea why you and the others are carrying water for GOP election officials, but you shouldn't. They're cheating right out in the open.

[-] GiddyGap@lemm.ee 11 points 4 days ago
[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

That is so good to hear. Of course, it will get appealed and sent to a higher court, so we'll have to wait and see, but that's still great news. Thank you.

[-] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

It's reaching the point where that won't matter.

Bush v Gore was clear regarding the Safe Harbor date. Even if the traitorous, anti-democracy assholes win on appeal, it won't matter if the election is over and the state legislature turns red and reverses the laws.

[-] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

And they'll find a way to invalidate these or just "dispose" of them. But vote!!!

[-] WrenFeathers@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

Wooo! Go Georgia!
