Remember when Elon made himself a ... "hero" by providing starlink to Ukraine? But that the system when down specfically at the start of certain operations.

Fucking wild that Elon still has goverment contracts.

He is just so fucking weak-minded. He got cyber-bullied by Putin. He turned into Trump's lapdog. And the next day he gotta fire random employees of his to feel in control again. Piss baby aptly describes his state of mind.

Laws are optional in America*

*Terms and conditions apply. Poor people not eligible. Large sums of money due at signing. Brown people subject to extreme scrutiny.

Elon Musk is another Epstein island piss baby

[-] Supervisor194@lemmy.world 65 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

They don't need any dirt on him, he's a fucking coward. All they have to do is point to the window, ask him if he is familiar with the term "defenestration" and assure him he will become intimately familiar with it unless he starts behaving the way Moscow wants. Yet another reason billionaires should be taxed out of existence like they used to be.

[-] EndlessNightmare@reddthat.com 12 points 2 months ago

[-] DaMonsterKnees@lemmy.world 62 points 2 months ago

Threats, from the Latin meaning, "large sums of money."

Fuck these people.

[-] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 43 points 2 months ago

Tbh I think it was more like eel on musk thought he was a hot-shit big boy and immediately got leveraged when he tried to play in Putin’s ballpark. That’s pretty much Putin’s MO, after all.

[-] DaMonsterKnees@lemmy.world 37 points 2 months ago

Honestly, whatevers clever at this point. All this bullshit right in our face, and all we can do is suck in it. I agree with you, though. I just pray the African American women of Georgia save this country again.

A note about Taiwan. Allegedly, Putin asked Musk for a favour for Xi - to refuse Starlink for Taiwan.

Coincidentally, negotiations between Taiwan and Starlink broke down. The Guardian reported about it on October 15:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/oct/15/taiwan-to-have-satellite-internet-service-as-protection-in-case-of-chinese-attack

"Starlink is not available in Taiwan after negotiations reportedly fell apart over Taiwan’s requirement that a local entity have a majority share of any joint venture established."

A person experienced in investigating such matters would take a look at the ownership structure of other Starlink local representatives, and see if Taiwan had unusually harsh demands or Musk was unusually stiff while negotiating with them. If Taiwan had harsh demands, it is plausible that no favour was done. If Musk was unusually stiff, then it's plausible that the favour was done as requested.

Like genuinely,

If there are Epstein tapes, with video evidence of Musk or Trump or Prince Harry (or Gates or Soros or whoever) having sex with children, will there be any consequences?

[-] Alwaysnownevernotme@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

As in for everyone? As these kid diddling failups squirm and concede ground to an obvious kleptocratic fascist?

Yes absolutely.

As in for them personally when the tapes are released?

No, not particularly.

I wouldn't be surprised if Putin had his own similar operation, only using state-level power instead of just money to recruit girls who could take the driver's seat and bring unsuspecting Johns back to hotel rooms rigged up with cameras anywhere in the world instead of needing to do it all on an island or at his home address.

Followed later by threats of releasing the footage (stick) vs promises for more similar episodes (carrot), though with the understanding that those carrots will be used as more sticks if they don't cooperate.

I think about that scene in Borat 2 where Rudy Giuliani clearly thinks the interview is really about sex and proceeds without a second thought about the camera. I also think about how he completely imploded his career, reputation, and maybe life by fighting a legal battle he knew had no merit (and maybe even deliberately sabotaged because, while he liked the sex, he might have actually had qualms about enabling a Trump coup... Like four seasons landscaping, seriously? Not knowing basic court procedures after his career was based on prosecuting the Italian mafia?).

Just a hunch anyways, probably nothing.

Edit: wording

Nah, Putin will hit him where it hurts: He'll fire a missile into space to destroy the Tesla Elon put up there.

[-] photonic_sorcerer@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 months ago

I'd be surprised if he can get anything in an orbit that far out. The last time the Russians went translunar, they crashed into the moon.

[-] limelight79@lemm.ee 5 points 2 months ago

I don't think anyone really has missiles that can do that. It was intended to be a joke about Elon's ego.

Putin seems to make implicit threats every time he opens his mouth, and I'm sure Musk's "I'm a very dangerous crazy loose cannon billionaire" that is such a huge part of his public image, even -- maybe especially -- with heads of state, went over extremely well with an actually very dangerous guy who tames loose cannon billionaires as a part of his actually very dangerous job.

"In May 2022, Russia’s space chief said in a post on Telegram that Musk would 'answer like an adult' for supplying Starlink to Ukraine’s Azov battalion, which the Kremlin had singled out for the ultraright ideology espoused by some members," the Journal reported.
