Move on? No.

The next 4 years are going to be awful. Your choices are pretty much to fight like hell to limit the damage to your community, tune it all out to protect yourself from the stress, or find a way out of the country, at least until after the next election (god willing).

There's no moving on from this, it's the last peaceful election we are gonna get.

The idiots trying to downplay this are going to be very suprised in 3-4 years when they get drafted so the Republicans can declare martial law and stay in power for life

Ask us again in four years... I fucking hope.

[-] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 5 points 14 hours ago

and do what? carry on like nothing changes for worse? yknow, plain water is better for you than koolaid

[-] Allonzee@lemmy.world 6 points 15 hours ago

Sure!

So how about this climate change huh? Ecological collapse in just a couple of decades from what I hear. And really no one with significant power anywhere doing anything but speeding it up.

Discuss.

[-] DharkStare@lemmy.world 22 points 20 hours ago

If the past is any indicator of the future then we can expect the next four years to be non-stop Trump posting.

[-] TheKingBee@lemmy.world 7 points 15 hours ago

If trump would stop being a weird fascist people would stop talking about him, just saying...

Are people dumb enough to think our world is going to continue as it has, just keep making memes, move on? We done fucked up, there will be nothing to move on to.

[-] LustyArgonianMana@lemmy.world 13 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

Right? That was possibly the last election for president our country will hold. No, I can't just move on from it.

Like Biden will likely have to leave the country once he's no longer president, along with his whole family. Taylor Swift might have to leave. Who knows what this raging narcissist will do.

A man who will rape, which is sexual torture, doesnt care about you or your body except how it pleases him. Including killing you. We are very fucked. He will punish us until his narcissistic ego feels satiated.

The US has the top military budget and nuclear weapons, which was just given to an open fascist who is clearly in the pocket of a foreign power, which has an interest in destroying our country.

No. No, we can't "move on" from the election, because elections have consequences. We will never be able to "move on" because we will be continuously fucked by those consequences, in the ass with no lube, for the rest of our lives.

Even if Trump and the GOP give up power and the US holds free and fair elections in four years, an absolute fuck-ton of permanent damage will have been done in the meantime.

There are so many things at stake, but people really don't know how bad Trump's supreme court has fucked the environment already. Getting the average voter to care about it won't happen until it's far too late. I try to just not think about it.

Ironic! This post is a direct violation of rule 2. No politics.

[-] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 2 points 9 hours ago

That rule clearly isn't being enforced at all, have you seen the state of this place?

If you haven't noticed that's all of Lemmy. This is the last post I will make that is political related.

[-] The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago

I saw this post earlier and figured it was more of a meta post about discussions on Lemmy rather than a political post itself, but the thread is getting too heated for a meme community, and I'm going to lock.

[-] WrenFeathers@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

Maybe delete it since it violates the rules anyway? Should help with your issues with political posts everywhere also.

Can we just move on from the US 2024 election?

Yeah sure. Just find someone who can put me in a medical coma, and I'll 'forget' all about it.

"Can we just get over the fact that your foot is blown off? It's bumming me out."

No

Yes! Can we go back to exchanging funny memes and cute animal videos with each other again? Please?

[-] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 3 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

Lemmy: I'm sorry Dave I'm afraid I can't do that

[-] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 126 points 1 day ago

This election is likely going to be looked back on as the point when things became completely untenable in the 21st century. The American empire will implode, billions will suffer, the climate emergency will accelerate to maximum, and geopolitical dynamics will become incredibly unstable. Shit is about to go fully awry. This was it, and the people who are already bored about it have played no small part in getting us here.

"He was only stabbed 23 times on the floor of the senate. We need to move on ... and then finish wiping up the floor."

Sounds pretty fucking privileged that you even have the option of moving on from the topic
