We're letting an idiot manchild run multiple major corporations. It's astounding.

[-] donut4ever@sh.itjust.works 159 points 1 year ago

Welp, we let an idiot manchild run a whole country with the strongest military on earth under his command, and a nuclear arsenal button under his fucking finger. 😂

[-] SuperRyn@lemmy.world 24 points 1 year ago

The two people who downvoted have dementia (their butts have also been wiped)

Not to take away from this, but it's a myth that the US president can start a nuclear war by pressing a button, it's a lot more complicated than this.

[-] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

They didn't even let him nuke a hurricane. I'm starting to wonder what all those nukes are even there for.

Oh absolutely. That was just to add to the point I was making :)

[-] MercuryUprising@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

It seems that idiot manchildren run basically every company

It's not like we didn't already know...

[-] Silviecat44@aussie.zone 96 points 1 year ago

Every day a new thing about elon musk happens and I am even more surprised by his stupidity

[-] Hobo@lzrprt.sbs 45 points 1 year ago

I reworked an old phrase because of him.

"You either die a hero or live long enough for everyone to work out you're a fucking idiot."

[-] chikaygo@lemmy.world 26 points 1 year ago

Just waiting for him to run for president, honestly.

[-] donuts@kbin.social 38 points 1 year ago

Not born in the US, so he's ineligible. Of course he's also super rich so...

[-] 001100010010@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 1 year ago

Admendments are a thing... just bribe 2/3 of each house and 3/4 of state legislatures... Or just do a coup

[-] Pregnenolone@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

That has never really been tested so there is no guarantee that a republican-held Supreme Court would find this interpretation of the constitution.

[-] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

That doesn't make you ineligible. Ted Cruz was born in Canada but could and did run to be a presidential candidate. The rule is:

Be a natural-born citizen of the United States

That could mean that one or both of your parents are US citizens giving you a US citizenship at birth. It's just one more reason the whole Obama birther thing was nonsense, his mom is a US citizen so it wouldn't matter where he was born.

That said, Elon also does not meet that requirement.

[-] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It just means the citizen has to be born by natural means. So no artificial wombs.

[-] aeternum@kbin.social 5 points 1 year ago

honestly, I bet he'd do really well in the running. I'm sure he'd be worse than trump if such a thing were possible

[-] Guajojo@lemmy.world 65 points 1 year ago

Funny how fast this man has become a parody of himself. I still remember the video of him and jack ma

[-] SubsAndDubs@lemmy.world 59 points 1 year ago

Do you remember when Elon first blew up, he was hailed almost as the second coming of Christ... the fall from grace is staggering

[-] Glimmu@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

I don't, he was called an idiot from the start with the same message you just put up.

[-] SubsAndDubs@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

Nah maybe a small minority but everyone was fucking talking him up and how he was going to change the car and space industries

[-] astral_avocado@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 1 year ago

Well tbf, he did. Through sheer luck and off the backs of others, and being an abusive boss, but that did happen for the space industry.

"This man is 51 years old" absolutely slays an insecure man-child like Musk.

[-] Chickenstalker@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago

Anime is mainstream now, so zoomers think it's "new". Thing is, the otaku culture predates the internet. I watched anime since the early 1980s. "Old people" can and do watch anime and read manga. It's not your zoomer sekrit club.

[-] SeedyOne@lemmy.ca 46 points 1 year ago

It's not so much that it's anime as it is Elon liking a comment about someone wanting to fuck heavily sexualized teens that look a very specific way...that happens to be in an anime.

[-] danc4498@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

I'm all fairness, Lemmy and Reddit both hide upvotes.

[-] MisterMoo@kbin.social 59 points 1 year ago

Yeah but only one of these services directs their engineering team to make such changes because the boss is getting dragged for liking weird shit.

[-] hypelightfly@kbin.social 39 points 1 year ago

Lemmy doesn't really hide it as they're visible to instance owners and shared through federation. Kbin also shows them so I can see the username/instance of the 7 people who upvoted your comment.

[-] imaqtpie@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 year ago

It's kinda lame that kbin users get to see Lemmy upvotes too. Most Lemmings don't even know you guys are spying on us like that 🫣

I think I'd rather have Lemmy make voter identity visible as well, but at least if we can't see it then neither should you. That's just rude.

[-] Numuruzero@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 year ago

There is a way to see up votes on Lemmy if you're an instance admin, which isn't a super high hurdle. But point taken. Still a bit funny to see how directly his usage informs the mechanics of Twitter.

only when it affects him
sounds similar

[-] TheControlled@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

I don't know how to read these fucking threads and retweets etc. Makes my eyes go separate, and makes me feel retarded.

[-] LillianVS@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Imagine having all the money you could want and still being so self conscious of what other people think of you. Just sleep on your pillow of money man lol

[-] lowleveldata@programming.dev 5 points 1 year ago

Why can't 51 years old like anime

[-] SuperSoftAbby@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Begins with a P and ends with the time period of 1603–1867 in Japan.

[-] DeanFogg@lemm.ee 11 points 1 year ago
[-] true_espionage@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

I will say it. Edo period

It's not that he can't like anime, it's that this tweets sexualises a girl who looks like a teenager.

[-] positiveWHAT@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

The worst part is that he crosses the line between fantasy and reality by urging contact IRL.
