How was Christmas, if you're celebrating? Any plans for New Year's Eve? Any major achievements this year that you want to share? Resolutions for 2025?

Have a good one folks!

Great week. Off work and enjoying playing BG3 with my wife.

Ah that sounds excellent. Really want to try BG3 as well, just worried my system specs are way too low and I wouldn't get to enjoy it.

As long as you meet the minimum requirements, it should be fine. The story and characters are what are most important, not the graphics.

Alright yeah cheers mate, how's yours?

Christmas was relaxed with just my wife, we've been traveling too much this year and decided not to visit family this time around since it's 6 or 11h flight respectively. We'll be driving up to the mountains for New Year's and spend 4 days in a nice resort.

You got any plans?

That sounds awesome, friend. I hope you have a good one!

I'm working away from home for a few more days (the absolute overtime slag that I am!), and then I may head over to a friend's to drink far more wine than your average human was intended to drink for New Year, and see in January with a killer headache.

I am a simple person!

Although, January 2nd I may start putting more effort into the running and rowing, I've been slacking this past six weeks!

That sounds excellent! Make sure you stay hydrated along the way though. One glass of water after every 3 glasses of wine is my personal sweet spot to not get too badly hurt in the morning...

Plus the older I get, the more frequently that pushes me to the loo, so I end up burning 50 calories by walking back and forth all night ;-)

Christmas was good! Mother in law got the flu so she didn’t come and ruin Christmas!

Hahaha sounds amazing!

Currently trying to get over the worst flu I've had in a long ass time. So... Definitely been better.

[-] viking@infosec.pub 2 points 2 months ago

Oof. Get well soon! Maybe there's a chance you can at least be somewhat up & running for new year...

I work at a sort of collective style business where we take in people with health issues, those who have been away from the "working life" for longer periods and people who have had different types of struggles in their lives and we try to provide a stress free environment for them to get back into working and, if not that, hopefully some improved sense of self-esteem and independence for them.
Over time this has led to some new actual friends so this year I decided to host a New Years Eve party at my place and invited these guys who usually would just sit at home that night.

So this week I've been cleaning my place like an absolute madman in preparation and trying to figure out some fun activities for us to do. I've hosted maybe 5 parties in my life so I'm quite nervous for everything to go well. So far I've come up with alcohol, board games, snacks and a midnight toast obviously. Any suggestions or tips would be very welcome!

Chill time at home with wife, short Zoom with my parents and sister. More chilling until NYE, when we're having a BBQ with friends, and of course I'm making another cheesecake.

This year, I put a 37 year old scooter back on the road, and then rode it on a 100 mile round trip to a meetup in way too cold weather.

I have a friend with a garage full of motorcycles that we're very hopefully going to start a YouTube channel fixing them up in the spring.

Spending a few days across the state at my parent’s place. Had a very nice time today spending several hours slowly cleaning my car, changing the oil and brakes, doing some deeper inspections, etc. Don’t have the space at home to work on it most the year, so it’s been nice and will make for an enjoyable drive home. Also helped install my dad’s new accessory package on his small block project and learned how to make some butter biscuits with my mom. I think I’m finally coming to terms with getting older.
