I liked the RTS stuff, they should have integrated it a bit better, but it was cool imho.

I would love a sequel but I will never accept jack black as the protag, that sellout fucked Kyle and threw away his street cred, gimme the Rage Cage

I liked it too in theory but in implementation it became a bit of a slog. It was a really inventine take on the "hero" RTS though and I did not see it coming at all. A sequel could be fun, it was such a great smash-up of a bunch of different genres of games. Felt like the last of that sort of games.
Would you want a sequel in the same music universe or like a Hiphop version of it? A singer-songwriter Brütal legend could be cool.
If we ever get one then I hope they have Heimat as a cameo

What a good fucking game. Ozzy, Lemmy (RIP), Rob Halford, Lita Ford, and Tim Curry. Dio (RIP) began recording lines for the game but was replaced by Curry for unspecified reasons.

CAN YOU HEAR THE BANSHEE SCREAM

TIM CURRY WAS IN IT??? I completely missed that somehow.
I fucking love the soundtrack too.

Loved that game! Totally unique and really good, in hindsight the worst thing I can say about it is that some of its ideas could have stood to be polished up in a sequel.

Psychonauts got a sequel ages later, so it's not totally out of the question lol

I have a copy of that somewhere. I think I'm gonna eventually put it up on ebay though. :(

It was a cool game and like, kind of creatively innovative.

Double fine made some cool games. I feel like Trenched/Iron Brigade (WW1 mecha alien invasion game) stuck with me more than Brutal Legend, but that might be that I preferred the tower defense format than the RTS style they had in BL

I played the demo and loved it, but I don't have the patience for open world games any more

[-] REgon@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago

It's not really that open world tbh. Or not as open world as I feel like Open World games are, if that makes sense. You've always got a clear point a-b route and stuff to do and moving around is quick

I either played a demo or like the first level at someone's house, I was kind of growing out of tenac at the time so probably put me off getting it, shame though seemed like it could pretty cool I didn't get far enough for any RTS stuff

[-] REgon@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

It's great and has tons of cameos! It also does something I so rarely see these days where the introduction of the game is themed. Gives you old school dvd-vibes

One of my favorite games of all time. The RTS segments were actually the core of the game and the first part designed, the open world came second to flesh it out and provide a kind of easing in tutorial for the RTS. I played a ton of the multiplayer, super unique RTS, loved being able to fly around, jump into a fight and mix it up or cast some spells. Also the game had an absolutely amazing soundtrack that really ended up informing my taste in music as I began to branch out and search for new things. If we ever get a sequel I can die happy.

[-] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago

Yeah, I remember it, cool soundtrack too. Totally forgot KMFDM was on it, they're kind of out of place.

Fucking incredible game

Would love a late sequel to it that leans more into the first half of the game over the RTS, I feel like we haven't seen many good old school action platformers lately, and a game based on sick ass metal album covers would be perfect for it

But even then the original is great

Was so invested into the media hype around this when it came out, one of my favorites, nothing else like its aesthetic

I like RTS's, I like metal, and I have a short attention span. It was really meant for me, especially back in the day when I liked Jack Black.

People assumed I'd like it, but I did not. However much I like RTSes and vague goth vibes, I hate "adventure game hack and slash thing". It's such an unbelievable slog for me.

Unless I'm misremembering this game and thinking of Darksiders, another game people assumed I would like but did not.
